He needs to go back to the film on the first UNC drive. He got bullied so bad even Parker had to come over and give him an earful. Less talk more being ready physically and mentally each play. To his credit he played much better the rest of the game, but UNC wasn’t exactly a powerhouse opponent.

Green and Capeheart have been the best interior DLs so far. With Woods being AWOL so far I think they should get the bulk of the playing time. Less plays might motivate Woods. Just my opinion.

I still think they messed up Woods with his added weight, ever since they got him up to 315 last year he hasn't had that same burst off the line. And I think they took to much off of Capehart, he played best around 325 since he had the height to go with it. Woods should be more around the 295-300 range, being only 6'2 he's more of the Grady Jarrett type in stature.

I believe that’s all on Woods. He knew in spring ‘24 they planned to use him at DE. The target was to get down to 290-295 and he reported to August camp at about 320lbs. The only criticism I have is that Dabo tried to save face with the comments that he was still quick at that weight. Totally ridiculous and proved to be true. This offseason he did lose most of the bad weight, but you wouldn’t say it’s been obvious. Though to be fair he is getting some of the double teams.

Woods is the focal point of opposing teams’ blocking targets.
He has done a fine job shedding blockers when the RB heads towards a hole. Even though the RB typically shifts and takes a different direction when Woods has shedded the block and filled the (first) hole … which means that Woods didn’t get in on the tackle … he impacted the play.
Woods has done well in collapsing the pocket in pass plays. Not so much as to get a sack or to (frequently) flush the QB out of the pocket by himself, but enough to keep the QB from sitting back there for 3+ seconds and dissect our defensive backfield.
Woods is clearly our best DT. Not that our others are mediicre; several are very good. Just not as good as Woods.
