It's just not good, outside of a couple of guys. Very little power and the control is laughable. I've never seen a high-end program have pitchers hit so many batters. They pitch scared and sloppy.

Knaak is chewing up batters.
Relief pitching is holding up for multiple innings.
we need to develop(quickly) a couple starters, and we're golden.

Darden is fine too. He’s had one start where he gave up more than 2 ER. We can win with Darden on Saturdays, he isn’t a flame thrower and he isn’t going to give us 7-8 innings every weekend but he puts us in a good position to win.

Darden is a pitch to contact guy, which can be very effective if the players behind him field the ball well. They didn’t field it well on Saturday, if we don’t make simple mistakes in the field, he gets out of the first 3 innings with only the solo homerun given up

I am really high on this team as a whole and love Bakich, but that doesn’t mean this teams doesn’t have holes. Pitching is absolutely a problem as well as power bats. Those things rear their head in post season. We’ve had some good regular seasons with Monte and even under Bakich so far and we still have t sniffed Omaha.

Knaack and Darden are our only dependable starters, have to remedy that. In general the bullpen has been very good. Mahlstadt has been excellent. Some days you just don’t have it at the plate. We threw a lot of new arms and they didn’t get it done. We lost a midweek game to a quality team. It happens.

i think this staff is surprisingly good. we don’t have a bullpen full of blue chip arms, we have a bullpen of pitchers.

baseball is hard.
