The Three Games That Have Defined Our Season

Thus far.
Forget the sweep at NC State, everyone has a bad weekend, and NC State certainly was hot that weekend.
Here are the three games that I think have defined our current situation.
#1: Game 1 against FSU: If we don't try to tag from second on a fly ball to shallow center, we score a run, we don't go to extras, we win the series, move up to #2 in the country with a Texas loss.
#2: At Coastal: was a dagger to our team confidence coming off back to back series losses.
#3: Game 2 against Duke: If Purify fields a clean ground ball and turns the double play, we don't give up 10 unearned runs in a single inning, and we win 10-5, win the series, stay #2 in the country.
This would also rank us third in the ACC with a chance to win the regular season out right with a sweep this weekend.
So in my opinion, a couple of bad plays and a poor showing at coastal are the difference in us being projected as a 2 seed, and being #2 in the country.
Just sucks, keep going Tigers, we're getting to that point in the year where it doesn't matter what it looks like, or how you do it, just win.
Go Tigers!

Were not going to be a 2 seed, and we will get out of our slump. This team knows how to win.

The Purify error was bad, but did the pitchers have to then give up 10 runs? I mean, sometimes good pitchers have to hunker down and work out of jams. They did not come close to doing this.
You are probably correct about the boneheaded base running blunder.
However, the entire team (not tonight) has been pretty bad over the last few weeks. I think it's more than just a few plays and the Coastal game.

I agree. Good post. Unfortunately sometimes the ball bounces your way and sometimes it doesn't. This is a scrappy team. Not all world hitters or pitchers but gritty. We haven't been playing good but that can change. We know how to win. Just have to get out of this little funk. I think we do. I think we get this train back on the track. Go tigers!
