The reset button.

A couple of caveats before I post. 1. I am usually very positive about our program. Many would call me a pumper. 2. I was and remain pro Dabo.
That out of the way, I have this question. We have been very consistent in all four games this year, consistently bad. The defense is uninspired and gets gashed by teams determined to run against us. Our secondary plays with poor technique. Our linebackers are poor at gap discipline. When we blitz, we seldom get home. Our offensive line is inconsistent. Our running back(s) (very seldom is it backs, one player has over 90% of our carries) cannot pick up blitzes. Our wide receivers drop too many balls and seldom gain any separation. Cade makes bad decisions both in RPO and holding the ball too long when he has an open receiver. Our play calling makes defensive coordinators look like geniuses.
That being said, if there is a reset button, why did we not push it after LSU? All these things I have stated above were clear then. Why not push the button repeatedly after Troy? Why did we not break the button from slamming it so many times after GT? These issues are not minor adjustments, they are major flaws in preparation, scheme, and execution.
I'm not sure I believe there is a reset button that is going to suddenly make us a team capable of winning 6 or 7 of our last 8, which we need to do.
I hope I am wrong.

And a single open date isn't enough to fix everything. One positive is we're facing a team we "should" beat. Even moderate improvement should be enough. Not saying it will, just should. Hope springs eternal. GO TIGERS!!!

Yep. We need to hit the "reset" button on this program, so to speak. ">">

Clemson's star has been fading, and the sooner we push "reset", we will be able to bring that star higher above the horizon again.

Look at 2024:

This is looking a lot like last year’s team with one real difference: SOS (strength of schedule).
We opened up with a tough game against UGA. Played them close for a half. Then we had winnable games against lesser talent / coaching in App, Nancy State, and Stanford. All three of which had losing records at the end of the year.
This year, we lose a close one to LSU, struggle but gut out a win against Troy, lose on a last second fg vs GT, and lose to Syracuse out right.
I’m confident GT, Syracuse, and LSU will all have winning records by EOY. Playing crummy opponents last year gave us some hope and we basically lost to everyone with a pulse (aside from SMU).
We’ll beat UNC this weekend- we might even legitimately see some improvement. But just remember: they ain’t good and neither are we.

NIL and the Portal are making our opponents in the ACC much more of contenders. We’ve not only underutilized these avenues but we also are doing a terrible job of development.

Check out the schedule…. They are 3-2 now…but the 4 road games will not be kind to them. Maybe they win the 3 home games, maybe not.
The GT & LSU losses, though regrettable, will be close losses against good teams. The Cuse one will not be seen in the same category, nor should it. It’s a bad loss.
