I do not think Dabo is opposed to picking up good players from the portal if it was a player entering the portal completely open to where he goes. We all know this is not the case. They are already paid for.
What he is opposed to IMO and rightfully so is tampering? Company’s have ethical and integrity policies that CFB is completely void of at the moment. If you are of high character, you have to completely cheat and poach players from which is completely unethical. And for those of us with high character creates a major issue internally.
It is time to institute the NFL model. Contracts and severe tampering rules. If CFB leadership cannot figure it out then the hand needs to be forced. Heck maybe the NFL should just come in and take the product over and take a cut since it is a farm league anyway.

player has already been " recruited by" his next team happens allot. However, I don't think this is the case with all players. There's to many that take a while to sign some where else. That tells me they're still shopping around for teams with interest. If tampering is Dabo's issue, then simply don't do it.

Dabo said that there hasn’t been players in the portal as good as ours.
He said the ones that are are just using it as a pass through to get to where they have been bought and paid for.
To get them there was tampering.

The majority of the players that enter the portal do not get picked up by another team. Obviously, a lot do, the better players and most of them have been “shopped”

Many and I mean most people are dating others when they meet that person that they truly click with and they end up marrying that person.
Same is true with these recruits. Now once they sign up and register at a school that’s immoral. Going after a recruit, even one that is committed is not unethical and if you don’t you just stupid

I totally agree with the ethics of it. However when all but 3 other teams in the country, which can’t use the portal by law (service academies), are using the portal either Dabo needs to find a way to use the portal ethically (you can’t tell me there isn’t a way because not every player who is in the portal is cheating the system) or the fan base needs to understand we aren’t going to win every game. By not using the portal we will always be a young team if we have to replace juniors and seniors who leave with freshmen from recruiting. Young players make mistakes. This isn’t 2015 anymore and the game has changed.

With Dabo it's about finding a player as good or better than what he has that there isn't a bidding war going on for them. To find a player that is as good or better than what he already has will come with a healthy price tag, and the fans that can't or won't try to understand that is Dabo's position about portal players, they will always throw the nasty words at Dabo!!!

I believe when a player wants to start and Dabo makes it pretty plain that someone else in our starter Dabo is happy to let the kid go and recruit HS players to replace him.
I believe Dabo is straight as a poker with this kids. If they aren't doing their work, causing problems in the locker room, class work or in public Dabo invites them to leave by telling them they aren't making the grade. That isn't cold, it's honest and everyone benefits from honest relationships.
I also thing many if not most of our decommits didn't have their offers pulled for the same reasons as in the last paragraph.

Yep I agree. Problem is loyalty and good ethics are no longer important in the world today.
Hopefully there can be some reasonable solution in the near future. This NCAA payout and all players getting paid could possibly make some type of difference.
Hate it or love it Dabo would rather ride off knowing he was loyal to the folks that chose Clemson.

The NFL should be sued for a billion $ a year by the college teams for a talent fee and forced to give free advice on contract law. They are getting a free farm league

Yes they are, and they will stay as quiet as a church mouse about it bc, it saves them millions on how long they need to scout college players before picking them for an NFL team!!!

You seem to have not been following the issue. The portal is not the issue as we can easily field an elite team out of HS recruits. For this to happen we must use large upfront NIL payments like everyone else. So the problem is Dabo’s reluctance to pay upfront NIL regardless if the player is in the portal or HS ranks. Without a willingness to engage, the talent level on our team will continue to fall.

A wholeheartedly agree with this post. Remember when there was a dilemma about stores opening earlier than 130 on Sunday, but times changed. Any organizations does not change with the time eventually becomes Irrelevant take a look at taking a look at KMart As an example. Coaches at high level division one schools are paid large sums of money to produce teams that win.

Where he is somehow able to ethically reconcile using donor’s money to gift jobs to friends and family members instead of performing an actual job search for the most talented candidates.
If he can look at himself in the mirror after the way he’s behaved in hiring, he should be good with a little tampering.
