Too many words that have nebulous meanings are overused to the point they have no meaning. Case in point is the word "elite". I am speaking primarily in the terms of athletics, as in "Elite interior lineman visits Clemson". Even the so called professionals disagree over who is elite and who is not. Unless there is a commonly agreed on definition, it just adds to further disagreement and does not further understanding or accurate communication, the whole point of words.
Just in case I am wrong about this can some of the elite posters on TNet weigh in on this issue?

Elite to me is a player that plays better than most at that position, the ones that has the ability to out shine many other players is an elite player!!!

Elite would mean exceptionally great. So there are a lot of good players and a lot of great players, but I would think elite would mean that it is a person that stands out among great players as being better than all but a handful. Definitely the top 1%.
The trouble to me is dubbing someone elite before they have ever played a college game.

Most of the rest of us are pretty Bohemian, for the most part. There may be a couple that are Legends in their own Mind, but that's as far as it goes.
