They take who they want from the portal AND kill it on the recruiting trail paying anything they need to.

This recruiting class is going to be a menace down the line. I hope Dabo rights this ship.

You're not wrong about that. It's all tiring. But we really need the 2025 class to be a slam dunk. Hopefully Dabo has at least 8 more Aces up his sleeve.

Almost all 5 Stars and elite 4 stars are already committed. None of the undecided ones have us in the final list. We might sign some more 3 stars, but we're not going to magically find 5 5 stars in the next two weeks.

Michigan is getting real serious about NIL

The losses they’ve taken this year have set them on a course to be big spenders. They’ve already made their $5 million deal for the #1 QB public. Not sure how much they’re offering Graceson but they’re ready to spend.

Yeah, it looks like their AD has fully embraced NIL and collectives. Michigan alumni have some of the deepest pockets and a ton of alumni. I would guess they will be in the top five of spending.

It is ridiculous that people do not understand that a commitment is not a contract and since recruits are 17-18 year old kids, there has always been kids that do not live by their commitment and that is called life.

What we need to do is stop the shaking fists at the sky and acting like we need high school kids to sign an oath in blood because their decommitment hurts some full grown adults feelings.

I pretty much agree with this. There definitely needs to be a 2 or 3 year commitment when they sign the dotted line. This would stop most of this.

Guys here are excited about the OLineman from UCF though, so teams can't have it both ways. You win some, you lose some.

A commitment doesn't make them responsible for anything if they never actually enroll in school.

NIL isn't something any athlete gets from a school.

There's no way to do what you advocate for.

But a commitment is supposed to be your word

which apparently doesn't mean much anymore.

You'd be mad if, say a roofer, gave you his word that he was going to work on your roof in a week. Then a few days later he tells you he can't come and you see him working on another roof; basically he got a better offer. You've already made plans for when he said he was coming and you quit looking for good roofers.

You hadn't given him any money yet. But wouldn't that hurt his reputation and wouldn't you complain about it and tell people what he did?

But of course you're going to say this is a strawman argument or false equivalence or something. So go ahead, do your thing.

A two day roofing job compares how, exactly to a three to give years as a college athlete?

Not even close to the same thing.

These decommitments are changing their minds before they even show up. And we know what it's probably about$

They're playing with us hoping to get a better offer. They're hoping other schools be like - hmmm, Clemson wants him, we want him more$.

Then their social media statement shows up appreciating all Clemson has done for me, then their new "commitment" announcement a little while later$

I don’t think the word commitment should be used anymore when talking about recruiting. Maybe ‘in negotiation’ is more accurate.
