Happy New Years to all!
I ended the year with my final check-in with my neurosurgeon. He says I've "plateaued" in my recovery; there will be little improvement going forward.
I don't believe him. I feel about 90% better than last March, but I'm probably only 50-60% as good as 18 months ago. Regardless, I can feel continuing, albeit minor, improvement. Thanks, doc, for saving my life. It was an incredible gift, but it's time to open the next present.
Without sounding too corny, I'm entering 2025 with 3 Daboisms in my pocket,
1. "Bad things happen in life. It's how you
respond that counts."
2. "The only disability in life is a bad attitude."
3. Most importantly, "Believe!"
Now that I'm no longer on doc orders, it's time to ramp up everything, but primarily weights and extended walking. I'm going to find out early on this year what this old body can handle, if it has truly plateaued.
And while I'm pushing, I'll be thinking of my surgeon, and one other Dabo quote,
"Don't let anyone walk through your mind with dirty feet."
