Just rewatched SMU game. I think the reason Sammy Brown has so many tackles is he has good tackling fundamentals/technique. He doesn’t try to tackle standing straight up. He gets leverage on his opponents.

Who needs coots?
We were the 6th best defense in the country last year and the primary reason for winning 9 games for the 13th straight year (tied with Bama for the longest such streak).
The defense dropped off a little bit this year, but we have already won 9+ again this year to keep that streak alive. You literally cant name two programs with a better streak of 9+ wins.
Some of you clowns are insufferable human beings.

- - - and be the first CFB program to have a Player-Coach. Sammy would be the Tackling Instruction Coach.
Heck, we’re probably paying Sammy Brown enough with NIL money for him to be an unpaid Player-Coach and not miss any coaches salary paid by Clemson.

absolutely lays people out... Georgias Safety and defense . Lay people out .
the things Makuba said about the development and training of the Clemson defense is very very valid .
this team doesn't hit . TJ Parker and Sammy Brown is the only high quality players out there , when you compare the Clemson defense to elite defenses in CFB

Sammy has drilled a form tackle hundreds of thousands of times in the gym on the mat at one of the most impressive HS wrestling programs in the country. It’s called a double leg takedown and he was a 4X GA state champion. You must drop your level, wrap your arms, power through and dump/turn the corner. Moral to the story… ALWAYS recruit top flight defensive players who were stand out HS wrestlers (Grady Jarrett says hello). They’re just tougher and more disciplined.

because of the extensive wrestling background. Not enough time allowed in practice for work on form tackling even if they spent an hour of 2 per week on their own time, I'd much prefer a player imprinted with the residual effects of at least a couple of seasons of wrestling practice.

They all have been taught proper tackling for years and years and still are taught. That's not the issue. Some are just better at it. It's like how some people suck at free throws no matter how much coaching they get.

Tackling is a perishable skill, like shooting free throws.
If you don't practice it often and with the correct technique you aren't good at it.
Our defense doesn't tackle well because Brent Venables doesn't coach the defense anymore.

touched a basketball in 5 years or so. (A mystery to me is how a significant number of ollege and some pro basketball players who have spent half of their life in a gym, cannot shoot free throws) Probably wrong though and go 9/10-
