It will be nice to see the team with a bunch of new faces on Friday. I don't expect the starting lineup to be the same at the end of the year as it is at the beginning. It will be interesting to see who starts at the 2 and 3. Here is my prediction.....
PG - Dillon Hunter
SG - Jestin Porter
SF - Jake Wahlin
PF - Nick Davidson
C - Carter Welling
I dont believe Godfrey will start at 3 as he is too big. I think SF comes down to starting Wahlin or going with 3 guards and starting Butta Johnson.
Can't wait to see Ace Buckner, Dallas Thomas, Zac Foster, and Chase Thompson play.

Sorry but I despise the transfer portal. I only recognize Hunter. It may only take a few weeks to get acquainted to these new faces but not knowing what we have stinks. Having said that I think if these guys gel and play up to their potential and play Brad Brownell defense it will be a good year.

You don't recognize RJ Godfrey from two years ago when made the Elite 8?
Get used to it. You probably will have like 10-12 new guys from portal next season on the football team.

Of course I recognize Godfrey but his name was not in the post. I always liked RJ and his game and hated when he left. I hope Football does not go to transfer portal U but I do expect it to try to get back to the top.

Did you see the video of the scrimmage on Clemson MBB on twitter, M'neer? Guys T bottom Link at bottom. Exhibition game Friday night with PC.
I'm going to give a starting line up but could change a little bit as season progresses. For the center going to see Godfrey and Welling changing up depending on the match up and as goes longer in season Welling will be full time starter, but Godfrey will still get around 23-25 mins a game. I also think Zac Foster will be the starter as season goes on.
PG Hunter
SG Porter- Foster by end of December if not earlier
WF Wahlin
PF N. Davidson
C Godfrey/Welling by mid December if not earlier
That is your top 7, and then Ace Buckner, Butta Johnson, Chase Thompson, and Dallas Thomas.

About the scrimmage hearing rumors that Jake Wahlin has really separated at the 3 position. Not that Johnson, Thomas and Thompson will play there a lot, but Wahlin has really separated there. A 6-10 wing there like Chauncey Wiggins but rebounds and defends really well.

If all he does is rebound, and make open shots within the offense it will be a huge improvement over wiggins.

I like seeing some nice looking strokes from 3. Porter has a really quick release. Wahlin looks like he can shoot it! Excited to see Welling defend. Think he could be a difference maker on defense.

Do we think Davidson will be at PF with Welling at C? Davidson has been touted as a center all off-season, and I would think Welling drops to PF to cover more athletic players. With the sport moving towards positionless basketball ultimately it will probably be a matchup thing, but surely Welling covers the PF/C who's more athletic or has more range.
At Godfrey is so hard to project, he's essentially a center in a 6'7" body. I don't think he's quick enough to guard wing players, but he was also outmatched against taller post players in 2023-2024. I think he does fine against small ball lineups, but I agree Brownell will go with the triplet towers starting lineup.
Honestly, I think Clemson is severely underrated judging from the lack of AP Poll votes and the common 8th-10th place pick in the ACC standings. Truthfully, they have a relatively favorable schedule with 5/7 "tough" conference games at home. The other 11 games are all winnable, as the ACC looks to be a super top-heavy conference, with the top 7 or 8 teams all having real chances of making the tourney this year. I think still, they could easily finish as high as 4th, but probably will end up at 6th or 7th, winning between 10-12 conference games.
