Somebody explain something about golf to me.

I've tried to play tennis, and I can't do it, because it requires talent, of which apparently I have none, and professional training and hours of practice if you're gonna pursue it professionally.
I've never tried to play golf, however, I can't imagine it requiring any real talent at all, much less training, or practice besides just hitting the ball. I'm pretty sure I could do it as good as anybody. I'm pretty sure almost anybody could do it.
What am I missing?

That's all I know about it. Do you have that?
Because I think the shoulder pads and body armor is quite expensive.

Go to the driving range with one club, probably best that it be a 7 or 8 iron. Attempt to hit a bucket of balls. Then, come back and tell us about how easy it was.

Take a tennis racket and try to hit the ball into a trashcan 150 yds away. That's why golf is hard.

I have a friend that is a golf pro at a private course and invites us up to play a couple times a year. Years ago he saw me hit one drive and told me to meet him on the driving range after we finished for a 30-minute lesson. He worked with me on turning my hands to a certain position to eliminate my slice. I was amazed at how he saw me hit one ball and knew what my problem was.

I have my first lesson Wednesday. Something is off with the way I'm rotating my hands in my backswing and I'm not getting the club face square at impact. I was shooting in the high 80's last fall and now I'm rarely breaking 100.
