Maybe we should just copy the NFL's organization. Scrap the conferences. They're meaningless now. It's all about who has the best attorneys and the deepest pockets.

There's never any real controversy in the NFL about who makes the playoffs. The math is relatively simple, and everyone knows where they stand. There's no subjectivity involved.

Scrap the conferences. Go to regional divisions. Top 1 or 2 in the divisions move on with maybe one wild card (since there will be far more CFB teams than NFL teams). Just like the NFL - sure, you'll have some weak divisions where a 4 or more loss team makes the playoffs, and some divisions where a 2 loss team is left out. Bummer. That's life. It's not fair. But it's objective.

Ain't gonna happen. But it's the best solution I can think of to rid ourselves of all the claims - legit or otherwise - of SEC and Big32 bias and all the various metrics and gut feelings used to determine the playoff field. All but 3 or 4 conferences are effectively dead, dying, or meaningless now anyway. Why not?

That's never going to happen.

There are 4+ times as many FBS schools.
Different conference contracts.

No antitrust exemption.
No unionization.
No draft.

What are you smoking?

Pretty good stuff actually

Keeps me chill, relieves stress and anxiety.

Yep - I acknowledge it ain't ever gonna happen in the OP. You got a better solution? Stick with the subjectivity and biases of the committee and the polls?

I’m honestly with you if it could happen. This 12 team beauty contest has moved the sport closer to the same sports legitimacy the WWE has. Think CFB had a great product. NIL, transfer portal, and playoff expansion to me has watered down the product. But ultimately it doesn’t matter whatever makes the money is what will be.

Go to a 16 team playoff, no automatic bids

tied to conferences, and otherwise keep things as they are overall.

Clemson's issues aren't the new system.
Clemson's issues are a refusal to adapt to the new system.

Just clear the ACC red tape and get an invite, then all of this is moot

It’s every school for its self now.

Conferences are currently the linchpin between the school and TV revenue.

I don't see that changing anytime soon.

4 tier relegation system is what we need. 32 teams in the premier league. Lets make it happen.
