All stadiums would have to have the same equipment. However..... Why not have it in the WCWS for sure. The dude behind the plate tonight was just flat out incompetent.

I never understood the umps going inside to position and 'guessing' at the stuff on the outside of the plate.

The implementation of an automated strike zone (ASZ) in Major League Baseball (MLB) is a topic of ongoing discussion and debate. While some argue for its sooner implementation to address umpire inconsistencies and improve game accuracy, others raise concerns about its potential impact on the game's nuances and human element. Arguments for Sooner Implementation: Improved Accuracy: The ASZ is believed to be more accurate than human umpires, potentially reducing errors and inconsistencies in strike calls. Reduced Bias: The ASZ eliminates the subjective judgment of umpires, potentially reducing bias in strike calls. Fan Frustration: Many fans are frustrated with umpire inconsistencies and perceived biases in strike calls, and the ASZ is seen as a solution to address these issues. Concerns and Considerations: Human Element: Some argue that the ASZ removes the human element from the game and the "magic" of the pitcher-batter interaction. Player Concerns: Players have expressed concerns about the potential for the ASZ to change the game's dynamics and the impact on their strategies and skills. Technology Challenges: There are ongoing discussions about the accuracy and reliability of the ASZ technology. Potential for Manipulation: Players and clubs have raised concerns about the potential for batters or pitchers to manipulate the ASZ through tactics. Current Status and Future Plans: Spring Training Experiment: MLB experimented with an ABS challenge system in spring training 2025, allowing umpires to challenge the ABS decision in certain situations. No Immediate Implementation: Despite the spring training experiment, there are no immediate plans to implement the ASZ during the regular season. Ongoing Discussions: The MLB and the MLBPA are expected to continue discussing the ASZ, considering player feedback and the potential impact on the game. Possible Implementation in 2026: While not confirmed, there are reports that the league is aiming to roll out the system in the major leagues by 2026.

"Integrity of the game", "human error good", or something people want to cope with, idk. Gimme the dayum robots honestly. This is one of the few jobs I think AI and computers only would actually be beneficial for.

The human error should be taken out of the equation. That's how people make big bucks. LOL
