And wouldn’t have any upside until his junior probably more his senior year at the most. For the other WR,s they were 5 star guys but you can’t predict someone being injury prone. The other guys were good but they got behind younger players that were better. The guys leaving are talented but when you bring in a #1 class there’s gonna be talent some senior players are not going to reach. Instead of them sticking it out unhappily like before they can leave now without consequence. That’s the only different. This would not be outside the norm if the portal had been around for the last ten years as Dabo’s recruiting and teams have gotten better each year.

roster management....been saying it for two years.

low offer numbers lead to "must gets" on the first/second choice.....if not we're "late to the game" with fallback offers.
we don't oversign
zero portal use to backfill transfers out
too many walk-on backfills
etc...
Dabo's FAILED miserably w/ roster management since the portal became a thing by thinking we can use the same Clemson "MO" that we have in the past.

There’s no other school recruiting these guys to leave Clemson and acting like they’ve made off like the grinch stealing Dabo’s Christmas. So far the transfer have been people who know they will not see the field on a regular basis and will end up somewhere on a team with far less talent.

Agreed but teams miss on kids every year. My only issue is we are not taking maximum numbers and awarding to many walk ons schollies. College football is a try out face it. If I’m recruiting I’m foolish not to be looking to better the position I coach. Transfer portal was a great change made in college football to help some of these guys have a better opportunity at seeing the field.

100% agree w/ taking max numbers being an issue........

to your second point, maybe in theory the portal was a decent idea, but it's taken 3 years to prove that it's a disaster. There are a crapload of kids in the portal right now.
match that with the atrocity of the NIL (ie Paying players whatever they want).......and you've got the downfall of college football.
Regardless of the on field and numbers issues Clemson has RIGHT NOW, we will not be able to "STAY ELITE" b/c of NIL........we don't have enough money to compete.

With a QB that would have stepped up this year even with all the injuries we would have probably won the ACC and made it to playoffs. Look at the close losses all due to low point production by the offense and the offense scored at least two TDs for our opponents.
