Saturday's loss feels worse

Nov 7, 2022, 12:33 PM

because we all saw it coming from a mile away, yet the coaches and their coach speak kept telling us "everything is okay". We all know it wasn't and hasn't been for a while.

I love Dabo. He is the best thing to EVER happen to Clemson football. But he has grown complacent in his success. I know he still wants to win, but he is different than that hungry, unproven guy that we all fell in love with.

I trust that he will do what is necessary to keep the program in the upper tier, but he has some tough decisions to make. Hiring friends and Clemson guys can only take you so far.

As far as favoritism or nepotism or whatever you want to call it...yeah, it's hurting the team. Not saying that Cade would have won the game the other night or any other game for that matter, but his treatment by Dabo and the staff is a bad look. I honestly won't be surprised if he hits the portal after the season. I hope not, obviously, but these kids all see the same thing we do. The positions they are putting him in are unfair to him and the rest of the team. Meanwhile, DJ seems to get a pass after every subpar performance.

A loss is a loss. It happens. And it sucks. But the one this past Saturday wasn't only a complete beatdown, it exposed a lot of issues with this team and staff. I hope they can get it worked out sooner than later because the team I saw the other night has given up.

I can’t say I saw it coming, it’s how it happened. I sure didn’t expect total domination. I expect to be competitive in every game. Thats what is so un- expected.

Start Cade against Louisville!

Nov 7, 2022, 12:42 PM

Dabo needs to START Cade this Saturday. Give the kid a chance to show his skills. He is our future and if not given a fair shake HE MAY LEAVE!

Problem is: If you start him (which I can almost guarantee will not happen), let the guy play the game he knows. Sure, put him in the best position based on experience, but playing too conservative doesn't give him a chance to show off what he has. Let him make plays.

I wouldn't even batt an eye. Cade would start, win, lose

or draw, as the adage goes.

Short term capital loss...long term capital gain.

And I'd make Will Shipley the Co-Captain of the offense to do two things: perform on the field and put a frigging fire in the offense. Further, the team would know those are his two jobs, and they dammmm well-better react when he lights the fires!

I think the biggest concern is losing the locker room***

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Especially disappointing we looked like that off the bye

Nov 7, 2022, 12:58 PM

That's the biggest indicator there are systemic problems with this team. Dabo teams almost always come off a bye hitting on all cylinders. No excuse to come out looking that flat and unprepared considering we had two weeks.

Many of US saw it coming.....

Nov 7, 2022, 1:12 PM

but not ALL saw it coming.........according to Dabo's comment of "wish I could say I saw it coming".......they didn't see it coming, which is concerning.

Now that the team has suffered a loss they should play better for the next 3-4 games. That old monkey is off their back. Gonna be interesting!

That's simply Dabo...

shifting the blame off the players and on to himself.

What has Dabo said that leads you to believe...

Nov 7, 2022, 1:27 PM

that he is going to change anything? Right after the game, with the sting of that embarrassing "a$$-whipping" fresh in his mind, all he said was they need to go home and "get back to work".

Whatever he and his staff have been "working on" for the two weeks prior to last Satdy night DIDN'T WORK. And my sense of him, listening between the lines, was that he's not feeling a lot of pressure to change anything. After listening to him my impression is that he still thinks he and his staff can fix this with more time. So, expect more lateral throws and more late, incomplete passes, sacks, or interceptions.
