Rumor about Tiger Band Funding

I've heard this morning that the tiger band just got another huge budget cut. Anyone else hearing this?
If so it's a dang shame. The band is absolutely a massive part of a gameday atmosphere and IMO we need to be doing as much as possible to expand and get the band running at an even higher level.
Visited family and went to OU vs UT last weekend at Neyland and it's sad to see how far behind we are compared to other schools bands. I've heard from others on here a big reason is because of no music program but lord if cutting funding isn't a huge blow as well.
I'm hoping its just a rumor but has anyone else heard about this big budget cut?

Not any more it isn't. All you can hear is that gosh awful drivel that is constantly blasted from the stadium speakers.

It was especially bad last week - Tiger Band was playing Eye of the Tiger and the speakers started blasting something or other where we could no longer hear Tiger Band. We are across the aisle from Tiger Band!!
The guy running the sound system needs to learn a little bit about tradition and respect.

I noticed that as well . I hoped it was just a miscommunication between P.A. guy and the Band.

They are having funding cuts. They sent out an email to solicit table sponorship for band parents for the spring formal. There was a 40% budget cut.

I hope everyone who complains about Clemson funding issues will give regularly to support our school. South Carolina is a small, relatively poor state. If every Clemson alumni who spent any time on campus gave $100/month that would put close to $20,000,000/month where their heart is. Too many of us think the other guy should pick up the tab.
Go Tigers.

That is sad. Hard to "Shake the Southland" when your band is being cut back.

Does anyone have a copy this email? Spring Formal?
I thought we just use to have a dinner at the end of the season. That was when the Junior and Senior band members got their letter jacket (junior) or watch (senior). It was catered dinner with a simple dance floor and I guess there was a DJ there to play at the end. Honestly cant remember. But I dont remember a "spring formal". Is this a Kappa Kappa Psi thing? I would not expect the Athletic department to pay for that.
I imagine that the number of Band Members allowed to go to away games have been reduced. But that is also a function of how many away tickets are provided to Clemson from the opposing teams. But I believe I saw a small pep band in Boston. So I believe they are still getting to send a group to every game.
Looks like the Athletic Department helped with New Uniforms.
So I am just curious what exactly got cut?

Who is the DJ there for? I find it obnoxious. If it is to make the atmosphere seem cool to recruits why bother now. It’s all about the $$$.

They are putting the money into an even louder scoreboard sound system for piped in music and country music concerts.

Those country music concerts will make a lot more money than they cost. It's kind of popular around here.

The concerts are a direct result of the budget deficit

Clemson has enjoyed a budget surplus for several years... that is not the case this year (on the athletic side) and the concerts are part of the attempt to make up the deficit. They generate a significant amount for the athletic department.

Who foots the bill for the costs of hosting concerts? Why would the athletic dept get the profits for concerts to blow on 20 million dollar salaries?

I think for this weekend, we need a Spirit throwback to the 1980s! We need orange pants, the Tiger band to play, run down the hill as we used to and stop the idiotic piped in disco music! Act like we actually care!

I would imagine they trying to raise for football. Just read an article where Texas Tec has a half dozen billionaires that just built them a 242 million practice football facility. The article said also that they have many families who are multi millionaires. They agreed to not let SMU Texas and Texas A&M beat them. We are caught up in a billionaires snd millionaires game now. This is the reason you ate seeing our committs go off the board.

No info on budget cut. But CU does now have a performing arts major music emphasis. But it’s really difficult to overcome 100 years of history.
A better side by side comparison would be the Va Tech band.

The new video board and in stadium DJ has just about ruined anything associated with tigerband and a “college” game day environment. Went to a panthers game a couple of weeks ago and was shocked by the trashy people and environment there. College football is not far behind sadly.

If someone has a copy of the email, please post it. If the funding cuts is true, I want to know if this is money that comes from IPTAY. Thanks

They are running out of NIL money ?
I will fund the back-up cymbil player.... hardest instrument to play in the band.

I hate the pregame rap crap. But it is not for us old guys yelling at the lawn. It is for the players and recruits. That's the crap they listen to. I have no idea what they will listen to 20 years from now. It ain't music. It's just brain shattering noise.
