[ ‘Old man rant alert’ ]

Yet another great institution and/or tradition from and of my lifetime which gave me such joy is being changed from what it was that I so enjoyed. Yes, it is only fair that the kids that produce so much revenue for the schools should also benefit from the revenue. However, the process your paragraph details doesn’t appeal to me. As one who loved playing many sports during my active years (now, the knees, hips, back, and other joints/bones/muscles no longer allow me to participate in ‘impact’ sports), I was never driven, nor good enough, to expect or require money and/or fame to love playing.

Oh well.
