Jan 8, 2013, 10:34 AM [ in reply to AJC saying he may visit knoxville instead this weekend ]

Heard down hear in Birmingham last week on a sports talk show, can't remember which one, but it was someone from an Auburn web site. They said expect Lawson to decomit soon, because of the new dline coach/recruitng coordinator formally at UGA was not very interested in Lawson at UGA.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ryan jenkins not a big factor here..not saying he wont go to

Jan 8, 2013, 3:09 PM [ in reply to AJC saying he may visit knoxville instead this weekend ]

UT or anything like that but Carl will make his own decision and is very mature unlike many other players we've targeted this year

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yea,but...isn't Auburn only 2 hrs from his home?***

Who does that leave if Ole Miss, UF, USC, and UNC are out??

Jan 8, 2013, 10:01 AM

Us and Auburn? And Georgia? (Is UGA even in the picture with him?)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Who does that leave if Ole Miss, UF, USC, and UNC are out??

Jan 8, 2013, 10:06 AM

I think Auburn still leads, but Clemson is in it. The official visit this weekend will make quite a difference. I'm kind of surprised that the Jackets aren't higher up his list.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Jackets would get more interest if he didn't like his knees.

Jan 8, 2013, 10:09 AM

Why would a top DE got there to get cut blocked every practice?

Please, Ole Miss won't go away that easy. they will give Lawson his own seat on a lear-jet with Nkemdiche, Kamara and whoever else they have swayed in the dark, behind closed doors.

Although it was a UGA oriented article, no they are not. They aren't even an option to him. I like our chances, but I really think his heart is in Auburn.

Georgia is on the outside looking in at this point...

You may recall, Rodney Garner, UGa's former recruiting coordinator, passed on Lawson with the Bulldogs.

Ironically, Garner is now the recruiting coordinator for Auburn. There has been some speculation that Garner's hiring may push Lawson away from Auburn.

I still think this one comes down to Clemson and Auburn.

He lives in Alpharetta, GA.

It's 111 miles to Clemson - on the Clemson side of Atlanta and 136 miles to Auburn and on the opposite side of Atlanta.

Atlanta is pretty much halfway between Clemson and Auburn.

Auburn is slightly closer than Clemson, but the difference isn't significant. It probably depends more on which side of Atlanta you're talking about. If you're on the east side anywhere near I85, then Clemson is probably a little closer. Both are in the ~2 hour range with Auburn being about 1:45 from the other side, but either way, it's a straight shot on I85.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson is closer than Auburn. Alpharetta is north & east of

Tennessee is in the range mentioned, but well over an additional hour than Clemson.

I think a little, but not by too much....

Auburn is just across the state lines .

Alpharetta to Clemson: 111 miles, 2 hours...

Jan 8, 2013, 10:10 AM

Alpharetta to Auburn: 135 miles, 2 hours and 14 minutes. Pretty much a wash there. Clemson should be in the game.

The most important question:_______________

Jan 8, 2013, 10:21 AM

Is MRS. Lawson coming.

If so, we may have a shot.

If not, will be hard to get HER on campus b/t now and NSD.

Does anybody know who's coming w/ Carl?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yeah we do great with the moms!***

We could REALLY use this guy!!

Jan 8, 2013, 11:23 AM

Come on to Clemson, its only a couple hours from ATL.

Signing him and Okendo from NY would make up for losing Elijah Daniel and RN. Get Marquez North and that would make up for Losing Jenkins and Robinson.

It's less than 5 hours from Atlanta to Oxford. Those who underestimate Hugh Freeze will do so at their own peril.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: LOL you mean those boosters' deep pockets?***

Jan 8, 2013, 12:59 PM

It is an indictment against any honorable recruit to suggest they would take a payoff. What you are suggesting is an insult to young Mr. Lawson. Freeze has never even been accused of cheating by anyone other than fans of a school who lost a recruit to Ole Miss. Research the man and you will see why current players and recruits love and respect him and why moma's trust him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

LOL No. That's why I don't see Lawson going to Miss

Jan 8, 2013, 1:09 PM

Nkemdiche on the other hand.....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Home will be

Jan 8, 2013, 1:03 PM

CLEMSON, when he comes, and he'll have a huge family here to support him. Great coaches, great players, great fans, great facilities, great community and the area is safe and clean

Excellent place to trust your son too for a few years

Hometown atmosphere is what most MOMS recognize when they come to CLEMSON

SO, come on Carl Lawson, we welcome you
