Another key takeaway that will have a massive financial impact on D2 schools....

"Additionally, the proposal includes a plan to eliminate all power conference games against Group of Five and FCS opponents in order to schedule more games that pit power conference opponents against one another". No more paying the smaller schools to play tune up games and no more App States or Northern Illinois upsets of the big boy schools. That alone would cut the financial tether for a lot of the smaller schools and possibly make their athletics budgets insolvent.

I think what would happen is we would have a couple of pre-season games in August… against the smaller schools in the state. And maybe the spring game would be against one of the smaller programs.
Dabo has been calling for this for years.
And those games would probably be big money makers. Think we’d draw 80,000 for a game against Furman in April or mid-August even if it didn’t count? I think we could.

I don't think it will happen.
First of all, Sanky and Pettiti are not going to give up their power and being the teams that currently drive college FB.
MANY COLLEGE PRESIDENTS SEE THEIR conference affiliations as being more than just a football school. That is why the BIG is very choosy about who they let join their conference. The college president's make those decisions, not Pettitti.
In the SEC and BIG you have too many decades old rivalries that teams will not want to give up. The SEC and BIG already make a ton of money for each team. The AD'S, the coaches and the college president's are not going to let some private equity and the TV networks take control of their teams. It is not going to happen anytime soon, if ever.
What may happen is that the SEC and the BIG drop out of the NCAA and form their own ruling entity with a commissioner and form their own CFP and play each other. I see that happening soon and when that happens, this talk of a super league with private equitity will be dead. When the SEC and BIG form their own conference I can see them adding a total of 6 teams from ACC . I would say:
FSU CLEMSON NOTRE DAME MIAMI UNC VIRGINIA

Junk,
Why wouldn't they use the private equity deal to provide the startup money they would need to create this super league. Many of the rivalries would remain amongst top team and the lesser rivalries would be replaced by tons more cash.
PS If a super league is created, UNC and VA will not make the cut.

UNC and Va will not be left out of a 70 super league or even a 40 team formed bt SEC and BIG.. There are many reasons this is not going to happen with pvt. equity funding 70 teams and picking 8 teams in Tier 1 to be the premier permanent teams in Tier 1. Sanky and Petiti are not giving up control f college FB and they do control it. They don't need a middle man which is what the pvt. equity is.
Read Dellingers article. I don't see it happening. Too much control by media and pvt. equity and who decides which teams are in each Tier which is where the money is?

These League Presidents are no more in “charge” of their respective leagues anymore than Roger Goodell is in charge of the NFL…
The networks own them and the bankers/investment class own the networks.

Junk,
Smash Capital's presentation to athletic directors projects an increase of media and sponsorship revenue of approximately $15 billion over a 12-year period.
15 Billion dollars will buy a lot of power and shift the dynamics of who is in control of what.

As you have already seen big money tops everything...well almost!.. Makes fools out of schools like Clemson, FSU was already foolish, we were conservative and very successful with a 'value added' program that brought the best kids and parents to CCC! Others could not stand this and found another way...kids have been slipped money probably since football started! It became a disease in the 90's and the portal and NIL were designed to stop Dabo! Remind you that the most storied program in College football got a wrist slap from the NCAA in the fifties for a payola slush fund ( no death penalty for Oklahome) rather than spill the beans on everyone else Bud Wilkinson quit! We have come full circle but it's still about money and Taylor Swift?

It’s not going to go well for Disney, they need to go to a different funding source for the new league. I’d be surprised if Disney survives the exposure coming.
Hopefully they don’t rush into something new too soon in my opinion.
