Even with OK's fan base I would be shocked if they finish 8-4 and he gets fired, especially after finishing with 10+ wins this season. But they are pretty rabid down there. Some were even calling for his job this season. The blue blood schools sure make it hard on a dude.

It wouldn't be the first time he has been "kind of" run off from there, and if he is fired, it's not like he didn't know what he would be stepping into at Oklahomo, especially when he had a lifetime career at Clemson making 2 mil a year!!!
If I'm to be honest with myself, I was absolute hurt when BV left us the way that he done it. I'm over that now, and successful or not at Oklahomo makes no difference to me at all....

Depends on the QB there, Arnold probably the starter, unless they pick up a transfer, only threw 24 passes this season so he will be learning on the job. I'm guessing a 7-5 season, they would give BV another year.

Interesting post and I'll spin it another way. Maybe 2024 (or pick a year) is his last year AS A HEAD COACH because it is too far removed from what he loves (hands on coaching)?
I don't know CBV, and may be off base, but over my career I've seen people choose to move DOWN the corporate ladder to get back to what they love.
I wish him the best no matter what he does!

It’s way to early to speculate. The portal taketh but it also giveth. Let’s see who they land this year. He brought in ALOT of guys last year and had a ton of success! I also assume a 8 win season would buy him one more year after the year they just had. So let’s bookmark this thread and continue the conversation come August.

I personally think that with the portal being wide open, and these kids can enter it at will, it would most likely than not help to extend a lot of head coaching jobs with the exception of the schools that have a ton of NIL money to purchase players with, then there is no excuse for anything under 10 wins....

Jackson Arnold beat a good BYU team on the road to close the year. Had to answer score for score, and lead a game winning drive. I think he'll be fine, and so will OU.
He's better than Cade Klubnik.

They are adding a lot too. I think they will be better. They had a great freshman class this year who will be much improved next season.

Only way is if OU really tanks next season, which I don't think is likely.
Whatever QB they get from the portal will likely be a step down from Dillon Gabrielle, but they should be OK.
Even if next year is very bad, I doubt CBV gets fired.

I hope BV is successful at OU. But every coordinator is not built to be a HC. If I was BV I would have stayed in Clemson. He want find a better place to work. He had a great boss, and he worked in a family oriented environment. I think he has 2 maybe 3 years depending on how the finish in the SEC.
I don’t think he will find another Clemson. It’s a very special place to work.
Talking about HC’s Jamie Chadwell is great person to work for. I hope he stays a Liberty he could retire there. It’s a great work environment and JC has been very successful. I hope he doesn’t fall for all the Power 5 money. These days I don’t think it’s worth it.
Tony Elliott would be a good HC to work for. I hope Virginia will give him time to build up the program. He has a lot of work to do. You can see the progress he has made. They are more competitive than they were last year.
Do you think Willy Korn might end up on Clemson’s staff someday ???
