I hope DABO and staff are working hard on portal recruiting because every news outlet constantly reports about former 5 star players visiting USUCK. Dabo cant afford to let Beamer beat him again in the portal especially after signing such a small, disappointing recruiting class. Dabo set us back light years with his anti portal stance and allowed our rival and most of our conference foes to catch or surpass us with talent in just a couple short years. It is sad the talent gap we had built over them just to give it all away with stubborness!!!

Do you know how many scholar ships Clemson has for next year and how many are currently filled?
You'd probably stop sounding like a moron if you did. The class was purposefully small, and this has been said all along.

your math doesnt add up man, we lost 7 in the recruiting class, how can we not have room? we are lacking depth because of DABOS stubbornness, we sign smaller classes most years than our competition so something has to change, when everyone else is signing 20-25 and adding portal players each year, we cant sustain this . we are signing less than 1/2 the players each year our rivals are. Because we lack depth at DE, LB, running back, etc we better be making room for talented players in a hurry.

We have depth because Dabo keeps his players around longer than just about anybody else, developing in house in our program. We have the same number, 85, of scholarship athletes as everyone else, yet we regularly bring in fewer HS players on average as you note, and have done largely nothing in the portal to date. And here we are today at 85 on scholarship accounting for graduating and expected departures.
"Everyone else" is clearly cycling through players while Dabo retains and develops here. Dabo pushes his players through walls, while other coaches simply let them walk.

Please everyone stop with the scholrship numbers. There will be more attrition. And how about not signing some 3 stars so he has a built in non portal excuse which I think is done on purpose. Be disappointing if he doesn’t sign 2-4 guys for key positions. Or we will continue to fall behind. But I’m hopeful he will!!!!

We apparently only have 1 scholarship available at the moment, so our hands are tied. If the roster limit is set to 105, I expect us to hop in the portal and grab some players.

They have the option to come back until they leave and go elsewhere. You cannot count them as gone until they leave...there are a couple of instances of folks that declared and then withdrew back to their original school. Point is you cannot count them gone until they sign on the dotted line elsewhere.

When you lose close to 30 players like USUC. He better hope he hits a home run in portal. It amazes me how all of a sudden, Carolina is supposed to be something better than they have consistently been decade in and decade out. I suspect they will slide back to the mean of 6-7 wins next year despite having a decent QB.

The choice is that of the schools/coach.
But, relying solely on the portal is insane. The difference makers mostly know what school they are going to. Everybody else, if they aren't as good as who you have, why bother?

Balance is the spice of life with the NIL/Transfer portal. Pull from it, yet rely on recruiting as well.

Dabo is still refusing to lead with NIL and automatically eliminates Clemson as a destination for the impact portal players. I hoped he would change, but there is no one in Clemson athletic leadership who can force him to change. We may land a non-Power 4 transfer at some point.

As of right now we have ONE (1) open roster scholarship spot for next year. I expect a couple more guys to transfer after the playoffs and/or in the spring. Another thing, we are preparing to play in the playoffs, not a lot of time to be recruiting right this second. There’s another portal opening in the spring that expect us to utilize more than this opening.

Don't be moved by Beamer's sudden success this past year. Could be another Mike Norvell in the making.
Next year will end up with a 7-5, or 6-6 year. Another transfer portal hangover.
