I am not sure Mahlstedt or Garris will be available. Not sure you sacrifice what little juice they may have in the tank against Georgia. You’d like to continue to prioritize the ACC series and win the NC state series. But with that taken into account I assume Bell gets the start in what would be the biggest game of his career. How many innings can he go against a good hitting team like Georgia. 3-4 maybe? Anything more would be a plus. But bull pen will need to put on a good show to win this game. Maybe Darden has been saved specifically for Georgia game perhaps he even starts. If not he probably be first one out of the pen and can hopefully go a couple innings. Maybe Allen can go an inning or so. Maybe Dvorskey and Samol gets an inning. Bottom line pitching staff takes a bit of a hit against a ranked Georgia squad without Garris and Mahlstedt. Not saying we can’t win. But do not judge how good Clemson baseball is off this game with a somewhat deflated bullpen. No need sacrifice the NC state series for this one midweek game. Hopefully our Tigers can pull it out.

Mahlstedt didn’t pitch that much. Between 25-51 one day rest. 51-76 two days, and 76-110 is three. Under 25 is zero. No way he’s burned. There’s a reason they keep his count low so they can use him often. I doubt Garris is burned for Tuesday as well. I’ll have to go back and look at pitch count and days.
I wouldn’t be shocked to see Knaak start Tuesday and Saturday. Would be within limits and rules. I’d think beating UGA is a better resume builder than Nancy Tate. State isn’t as dangerous as Louisville and don’t foresee the same struggle.

If after 4 or 5 it's tight, then you begin going the normal bullpen rotation keeping everyone under 30 pitches. Titsworth would be off limits as he would start Friday night. The rest would be fair game. If the team doesn't start getting some timely hits with runners in scoring position, it may not matter. Georgia is solid and it's gonna take 6 or 7 runs to win that game.

it appears you put a lot of thought into all of this. only problem is we play thursday - saturday again. no way in he!! knaak pitches a pitch. darden has a sore arm. it will be talen bell to start just like the last 2 midweeks. hopefully darden can go some. gillen is now available according to EB. remember uga will be pitching their midweek guys also. lets not reinvent the wheel here.

Actually Deroberts" man who cannot allow fans to simply have conversations on here without being "D " bag!. Maybe that's what the Dcstands for?? But anyway coach said something in his weekly radio chat with Mickey that led me to believe that he will use whoever on Tuesday. He said he would allow any pitcher to throw their midweek bullpen session live on Tuesday. He said nothing was off the table. He understands the magnitude of this game against UGA. But back you sir....Please go away!!!

You are nuts! This game means nothing! Both teams will play a Th-S series so no weekend guys will see the bump. UGA going 2-7 so far in April might need it more than us but Wes Hohnson knows the conference wins will get him what he wants so he won’t be wasting pitching in a midweek , top 10 matchup nonetheless!

correct and Lucas and Harris might throw some too. I’d expect bell, Dardy (if it’s not really soreness), gov, gill, samol, Garris and Lucas if tight or closing situations, leg, plenty of options

like you and me and others have said all year. Bell and gill will be huge come postseason…my former team when I played in hs we had really two guys …we got by but come playoffs we needed that third and fourth guy. The next two years they had top two guys but really four or five man rotation.
Coach knows he needs more arms and guys who can start in postseason. Might have to play two games in one day.
