Hunter Mahan quote:
“I guess I would say Quail Hollow is like a Kardashian. It's very modern, beautiful and well-kept. But it lacks a soul or character.”
Guessing Hunter will not be popular in the Quail Hollow clubhouse. Maybe the golf course is like the man, or woman, who doesn’t know when they have had enough plastic surgery.

Now it’s true that they just started playing it on tour but he’s acting like it’s some new course they threw together. Give it some time, the mystique will follow after it’s had time to marinate.

In 2011 @ the Wells Fargo Event @ Quail Hollow Our very own Lucas Glover bested Jonathan Bryd in One Hole Playoff:

I think Jonathan even had a Hole in One that Day!
“The first PGA Tour event held at Quail Hollow Club was the Kemper Open in 1969. Quail Hollow hosted the Kemper Open from 1969 through 1979. The PGA Tour returned to Quail Hollow in 2003 with the Wachovia Championship, now the Truist Championship. The club also hosted the PGA Championship in 2017 and is scheduled to host it again in 2025.”

I remember that well. Our boys took a lot of money home that weekend. Looks like Rory pretty much owns it now.

major sites is what i'm referring to. Quail Hollow is very new when you're comparing it to the other "prestigious" venues. So in reference to PGA history, Quail Hollow is in its infancy still. .maybe verging on adolescence in the grand scheme of things.
I will say they turbocharged the value of Quail Hollow in a short period of time by ensuring the purse bigger for the old Wachovia Championship making it more of a value stop to get bigger names to come play it. As opposed to the John Deere Classic in Greensboro that was always known as an "off week" for the big names. They didn't want this one to be like that so they upped the winnings. Good move from their end.
I've lived in Charlotte my whole life so i've always known of Quail Hollow and was kinda surprised when they added it to the PGA schedule. Its so exclusive though that i never played it or knew too much about it other than it was a nice private golf club that i'd probably never play. In my mind i've always just put it in the same realm of Carmel CC or Myers Park CC and didn't know a whole heckuvalot about it until they started featuring it.

I've lived all over the southeast and CLT has a ton of character. It's not charleston but what is? The only thing most fans here seem to know about is the two mile radius around BOA stadium.

I lived there 10 plus years and I like to describe it as a corporate park with a skyline. Uptown pretty much becomes a ghost town after 5pm.

gathering that over took the streets of uptown charlotte for a protest the war walk. That day we went to discovery place to see a play or something and when we came out there were police and federal agents all around the discovery place doors blockading it just in case and watching this group of about a thousand or more protesters and sign/flag wavers that was forming in the next door park area.. I was like, get me out of here and never come back. So needless to say i avoid uptown charlotte at all costs if possible...not worth the stress. So its def a ghost town for me.

I have been up here all day and it’s definitely a beautiful and pretty tough track. I’m marshaling on the par 4 16 and it is listed at 529. Longer than the par 5’s I play. Unreal.
