Orange Bowl hotel options

I’ve never been to Miami and am considering attending the Orange Bowl. How safe is the area around the stadium? Any recommendations of hotels or areas to stay/avoid?
Thanks in advance!

Miami Beach - 15-20 minutes from the stadium? more like 45-1 hour on game day... and getting out is worse...

Miami Gardens is actually near Ft. Lauderdale/Plantation area. So you can look around Ft. Lauderdale actually. Look at the map and see where Miami Gardens is, and then you can find hotels. We stayed in a Holiday Inn Experss in Plantation about 15 minutes from the stadium, but there were a lot of lights on the main road to the stadium. I think there are some Marriott properties like a Courtyard kind of near there too. Tigress2

The stadium is a million miles from downtown Miami and the traffic is a real nightmare.
Consider staying closer. Maybe Lauderdale,
The weather will likely be great but that’s the only thing about Florida that is a positive. To me!

Don't count on the weather to be warm at night. Many people have made that mistake at the OB.

We lived in the area just north of the stadium and I worked in Miami twice for a total of 10 years but we haven’t lived there since 2003. The advice I was given when we moved there was to stay west of University Drive and as far north as you feel comfortable driving. I think that probably still applies. We are trying to decide if we are going and if we do we will stay in the Weston area. That is where we lived and we are familiar with it and it is about 20 minutes from the stadium with normal traffic. When I searched properties my choice would have been the Vacation Village at Weston. It is near or on the Bonaventure Golf course and I was pretty surprised at how reasonable their rates are. There are plenty of restaurants in the Westin area and around the Sawgrass Mills mall.

We’re staying in a condo next to the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk. Maybe a 30 min drive to the stadium.

On game day that 30 minute drive may be something else! It’s like being in the middle of the pack at Daytona race track.

Do not stay near the stadium. We prefer to stay on Miami Beach. It's a nice area with lots of nightlife and great hotels.

Stay in Lauderdale on the water... easier to get to the stadium and more to do at night... beach is right there... take a drive to Miami Beach and see it but not worth staying there...

And if you are flying, the Ft Lauderdale airport is MUCH easier to navigate than the Miami airport. Miami might have more options but the traffic around that airport is a nightmare.
