Oliver Purnell to Depaul never should of happened

Look back now, it did not make sense for him to make the move and I still don't understand it. Clemson would still be a perennial NCAA tourney team if he were still here.

OP couldn't keep it in his pants. And no this isn't a joke. Seems like our basketball coaches have a hard time with that.

Every coach that leaves clemson has some flaw in the fans eyes. Truth is he was tired of no fan support and not getting what he needed to keep winning..... Having to put a court down in the indoor track just so he could host a camp is just cheap.......

going to change and he was right. Clemson will fire Brownell in a few years and will hire some other young coach who will either win and leave for a better job or get fired. This will be the pattern until Clemson invests in it program and the fans start supporting the team. OP could have won for the long term if Clemson would have given him what he wanted.

I have heard personally from people close to players that Purnell has lost the team. If you were an IPTAY donor, which to be fair you may be and just missed the Orange article, then you'd know they are building a beautiful basketball practice facility.

But I would venture to say that OP had as good if not better than any other coach in Clemson basketball history. I don't know much about before him but I know for #### sure that he had a whole lot more support than BB. Everyone here loved him before he left. That being said, I'm glad we have Brownell now and I think he has done a good job considering what he is working with. Our basketball is just not the same now and I primarily blame the lottery system. There was a good system in place under OP, at least while I have been going to games as a student, where there was incentive to get to the games first which led to the craziest loudest fans being on the floor like they should. Then they decided they needed to change it and ended up ruining it.

and he knew he wasn't going to get us far into the NCAA tourney. He is a program builder, that's what he is good at.
The way he left...good riddance to him.

OP was allowed to build his program, I think it is only fair that BB be allowed the same time. Let's check back in 3-5 years.

That is crazy.
He's got one more year to show we are progressing, would be my guess.

His players are soph and freshmen with 2 of his better players on the bench. Let's give him 5 years at least. Again, OP got that time to build the program the way he wanted.

I don't think Radakovich will give him 5 years without any progress.
He's got to show he can recruit.

and a bad Purdue team in our home gym. I don't expect us to come out flat in games after we came out flat the game before.
There are a number of head scratchers this year and we've only played 2 ACC games.

Less than last year.

Remember how bad we were early last year? We beat most of the teams we should this year (CC being the exception).
I will say I'm surprised we didn't play better against FSU. I do give FSU some credit as we made run after run to take the lead and they kept hitting big shots. I do think the team is lacking in confidence since the CC game.

Milton to take a step forward this year, knowing that it was his last go round.
Unfortunately, it hasn't happened. Booker has stepped up, but we really need Milton to play like he is capable.
Hope we can get it together and at least give us some hope that we MIGHT win going into each game.

Give Brownell a chance. He needs at least five years to get this program going. It'll take three just to get a starting five that can compete in the ACC.
I know it hurts to get run over by Duke but that's part of the growth pain.
I'm sticking with Brad at least until his boys occupy the entire team. Don't you consider that reasonable?

Now, Brownell has still not proven he can recruit at Clemson. That's the key now.

Really, a NCAA team virtually every year. With the talent pool he left at Clemson he would have gotten blasted. He has gotten blasted at DePaul with more talent than he left at Clemson.
OP & his staff did Clemson no favors as he left the scene.
I so not agree with you perception.
