My thoughts on the Stoudt/Watson situation...

First of all, it's a joke for me to think I know which QB should be getting the majority of snaps. I don't attend practices. I don't sit in the meeting rooms. And I don't have the football knowledge of these coaches.
I think as a coach you have to go with the player that based on all of the data and evidence gives your team the best chance to win, and I think for now that guy probably is Cole, despite what we saw from Watson on Saturday.
I LOVED what I saw from Watson on Saturday. He came in and started firing the ball down the field like he was a 5th year senior. And the dime he dropped between two defenders was the prettiest throw I've seen in a LONG time from a Clemson QB, and that's not to knock Boyd at all.
HOWEVER, it's hard for me to say that given that one drive the coaches should have just handed him the job on the spot. Remember, he came back in for several more drives and the offense bogged down. I do think he showed flashes of absolute brilliance, and it's pretty clear why Chad recruited him so hard for years. I am SUPER excited about the future with this kid.
I don't want to sacrifice any of his potential for instant gratification in one game though. I am confident the coaches have a plan for him, and he seems very comfortable with that approach as well.
The future is bright at QB, folks. Man, is it bright!

the td was nice but it was fools gold. a db turning his head (and usually we are the only ones who cant do this) picks it off easily.
Watson looks promising but he is a freshman who will make mistakes and there is no reason not to play Stoudt a lot more than DW.

It was a LB not a DB and...

It was a perfectly thrown ball placed exactly where it should have been. As the announcer stated, "you are taught to throw it right by his earhole" and that is what Deshaun did. That ball doesn't get intercepted in any scenario.

Agreed. The LB was dead to rights

Peake had position and the advantage of only putting up his hands at the last second. The LB was never in a position to make a play on it

school. That wasn't just luck but a great throw and a great catch. Will he make that throw everytime? Definately not but with him it definately wasn't just luck.

I agree with your post totally re QB situation. I think Cole played well as did Watson. My question is simply: why can't our coaches see the obvious that we played tight in the second half, they coached not to lose, and the play selection was awful unless we don't have any pass plays over the middle, draw plays, or other plays commonly used to countereact an overly aggressive pass rush from 4 DL and 1 or 2 LBs virtually every play?

There is No Stoudt/Watson situation...

Playing Watson more on Saturday would not have altered the outcome of the game. Neither plays on special teams, defense or makes strategic decisions.

You can't really blame the defense when we only got 1 first down in second half. No defense would have survived that. If anyone is to blame it's Chad's play calls...

You have no idea if playing Watson more in the 2nd half

would have made a difference or not. The reason we gave up a ton of points in the 2nd half is because the defense was tired. If our offense could have moved the ball and scored, would have been a different game.

I personally don't think Cole played that great. He threw a int and under threw most of his passes. Granted there where two drops that we're not his fought. I am sure the coaches will play whoever gives us the best chance to win. I just know our offense is setup to use a duel threat qb.

Watson was cool and calm in there. The kid is ready right now to lead this team. Gallman and Choice should be our lead backs. We should be using hopper/Scott as our jet sweep guys along with screens. I'd like to see Alexander I'm the punt return
