Murdaugh Murders - Lifetime movie, part 1

2

Oct 15, 2023, 12:41 PM

watched pt 1 this AM (recorded last night) just to see how terrible it would be.

I must say Bill Pullman does a good Ellick. Looks, dress, and mannerisms pretty dang spot on (and I've known Alex my whole life). Accent passable, except he says "Bow-fort".

Everything else is pretty much warm guano. Seems other actors go for the old exaggerated Charleston accent, which only people born and bred in downtown Charleston use (the "Fritz Hollings"/psuedo-Boston accent). Folks from the rest of SC don't talk like that.

All kinds of factual errors of things we all know about, not sure why they would vary from what actually happened, just muddies up the story really. Lots of speculation (expected), some names changed (why?). Hampton portrayed as much larger place than it is, Edisto is a lake with tall evergreens -- and mountains! (I looked it up.....movie was filmed in Canada!?).

Ended with the murders at the kennel.
Part 2 tonight (also repeat of part 1)
Lifetime Network.
