They wear them in practice, haven’t seen any in a game until tonight.

I’ve seen a few. Looks weird but they aren’t going to tell the players no. Interesting how we went from leather helmets to hard hats back to a version of leather helmets…

If they went back to leather helmets, it'd wipe out the need for targeting penalties.

They aren't leather and they're not helmets.

They are soft shell pads that attach to the outside of the helmet. They provide an extra later of padding. They are designed to reduce the number and severity of concussions.

Now they need to put a guardian cap over the turf because a large percentage of concussions are coming when the helmet bangs on the turf. Doesn’t even need to be a hard hit, just an unsupported head as the body goes horizontal. Maybe they will put the Dale Earnhardt HANS devices on to keep the head from snapping. Guys in the NFL are so fast and moving with such ill intent they can never go backwards with the violent hits.
