Maybe someone can answer this for me I hope. Was s.carolina

considered to be a "repeat offendor" by the NCAA or not? I'm assuming that they (the NCAA) must have contorted their way out of classifying them as that based on the feather they brushed across S.Carolina's wrist yesterday. If you were considered a repeat offendor, how could you possibly get such light sanctions? What would be the point in the designation?
Sorry for the wordiness, just hope someone can answer the question. Thanks in advance!

I am suit is addressed in the report somewhere. The NCAA was pretty clear in their feelings on the level of cooperation and work that w did to meet their expectations.
Sometime in the next f weeks I'll read the report. For those that are begging to know that answer right now, it would probably be worth their time to read the report now instead of relying on message board posters for an answer that probably is a guess at best.

Partner, how nice you were after the fact that you broke

major rules, while on probation for previously breaking major rules should have no merit on the consequences of those facts. I am not certain, but I doubt if a convicted thief, on early release and on parole, broke into a home and stole 57,000 in jewelry would be given a "Thank you so much" once he was apprehended and he told them where the loot was and quickly took them to it. Oh, and on top of that, they, the police would allow him to only return 18,500 ( that the thief graciously offered up on his lonesome) of the 57,000 in stolen merchandise. ** Yep, it happens everyday in the real world just like that.

you'd be better to assume it was all about the benjamins.it's the ncaa that should be investigated.

Not sure but in the past the ncaa has chose not to apply repeat offender status if a new staff has been put in place since the previous violations.

So, when is Spurrier going to be replaced? Are you kidding

me? You had a previous coach who had cheated at every school he had every coached and you replaced him with a coach who cheated from the moment he was hired, up until the moment he was caught.

Oh please. SOS is known as one coach that doesn't cheat. You've been out recruited and out coached by both our baseball coach and football coach. Man up and face the truth. SOS removed 10 players in his first year at Carolina and 8 were on the two depth chart. Summers and Thompson to name a couple. He beat Florida & TN with 4 walk-ons starting on the offence.
He's built our program in he right way. Face the facts. USC is in the powerful SEC and doing well. Clemson is in the ACC and that conference is in trouble.
Spurrier has a record of running a clean program, and he's adjusted to the style of his talent which is loaded.
Look for 4 in a row this year.
Respectfully Submitted,
Davy

I agree and I think ignoring this clause will come back to

Bite the NCAA. They have just removed any threat from this rule for most big time schools with big time coaches. Just from reading between the lines, it seems that SCar rolled over quick and easy and did most of the work for the NCAA, so they gave them a pass. So, the way I see it is you cheat like crazy hoping to not get caught. Also, you get an underling to do the dirty work and pay them off to take the hit. If you do get caught, roll over and fully cooperate, while proclaiming you and your staff's innocence.
I did notice that the NCAA reduced their total scholarships to 82 for the next 2 years. I'm sure this was due to their rampant oversignnig. I think these penalties will be a minor headache to SCar the next couple of years.

I really don't think that this is something we did. That would be giving our compliance office way too much to think they could cook up something like this.

I did not say that you planned it this way

What I am saying is that with this ruling, the type of actions that I listed have been shown to have kept a team from a stiff penalty. I do not doubt that many teams have taken notice of this ruling.
Since you brought it up, the premise you referenced is not outside the realm of possibility. I have been told that SCar 'demoted' their 'Compliance Officer', but kept her at her original salary. To my knowledge she has not been fired. Spurrier has been very vocal about this not being on his staff. SCar also hired the Compliance Officer from Ohio State that helped run off Tressel. Whether planned or not, I give Hymen props for his damage control.

Steve Spurrier wasn't mentioned in the report from the NCAA. From reading it, it seemed as if the NCAA thought that because of the "above standard" cooperation of the University, and the fact that the self imposed penalties were worse than what they would have handed out, they were satisfied.

Let's face it. The ACC is now considered the 7th best conference in the country. Adding Syracuse and Pitt isn't going to help.
The system will hurt the ACC. I thought when the ACC added Va Tech, Miami and BC it would become a power conference. Instead, it brought the ACC to much lower standards.
Clemson, get out of the ACC and join a more powerful conference. If they will take you? The Orange bowl has moved from the cream of the crop, to a lower tier bowl with poor attendance.
Wake up and smell the coffee! And act while you can.
