and I know a lot of you are not. Still, a movie based on his recording of Nebraska? LOL.
Who would ever think this was a good idea?

"who is the most famous person I know of who has had almost 0 impact on my life", Springsteen has to be top 5 for me.
I don't get it, but that's okay.

Dire Straits would be another, but they kind of faded away

Wife and I were discussing this the other day, and it seems that the secret to remaining relevant and famous in music, is to tour forever. Do that, and you will remain famous, even long after your best songs are gone.

the list goes on and on, but the bands who remain famous seem to tour on a permanent (Dead/Buffett) or semi-permanent basis.
Phish, another band, still kicking, in permanent touring mode, and still popular.

the recording of Nebraska. Springsteen fan or not (maybe not love, but I do like Springsteen), it's a seminal album that gets mentioned by a LOT of artists as a direct influence. I'd consider it an Americana masterpiece, and it was a very daring release when it came out in 1982 when you consider the kind of music that dominated the airwaves at the time. It's easy to crack on it if you don't like Springsteen, but I'll challenge you to sit down and give it a fair listen all the way through and then make a judgement...especially if you like anything in the folk/Americana realm.

so disappointed - never really picked it up again. Like Lou Reed's Berlin LP when I bought it.
Ok, maybe one day I will give it a new listen, but early Bruce is so good imo.

his lyrics in time with the music live. It's like he grudgingly did so while recording the record tracks, but is just totally disdainful of musical timing while singing live. One thing he and the former Robert Zimmerman have in common.
