For everyone thinking Clemson will win… our secondary will get burned by LSUs speed at WR. if Tom Allen’s new defense doesn’t put pressure on them up front from the start it could get ugly quick. Long time reader first time poster… no I’m not a coot. Look at Penn States games last year and see how long it took his defense to get going against good teams. We may be in for another disappointing season and drop a couple games due to this.

Nope just a diehard tiger fan who doesn’t see everything with orange tinted glasses and watches a lot of football. Too many unproven guys in the secondary that lack speed. Look at how barion brown played in the gator bowl against Clemson, they’ve got several WRs with his speed on LSUs team. Our front 7 will have to get pressure early and often to stop LSUs offense

Not sure what you mean about WRs burning us and what makes you think we don’t have speed in the secondary? I’m thinking you don’t really know a thing about our secondary.

Ashton Hampton has a lot of potential. I am hoping lukus can finally turn it up a notch and Barnes gets over his slump he was in last year. I am very worried about the negative things I heard about Allen at Penn state. There weren’t many but it has been said that his defenses started slow and did not bring pressure until late in the game. He also had to have someone else call plays to his LBs because he cannot be understood over the headset from screaming with a lost voice.

But even with my concerns about Allen he is still much better than what we had and has shown he can make in-game adjustments unlike Goodwin.

What? Not about in game adjustments ?
Let’s see, how many games did Wes’s def look good first half, then can’t stop anything after halftime. Other team adjusted, us? Not so much.

Getting players to play hard for 4 quarters was precisely our issue. The same guy led the 8th ranked defense in the country year before last. He lost the team on an emotional level. That’s it.

I did catch the Penn State v Ohio State game and the CFP game ... i saw good defense that reminded me of Wes Goodwins 2022 units ability .

Ive got some friends who are die hard Penn St types. It may not mean much but they were pretty butt hurt when Allen left them. I know this buys nothing, but it further secured for me that Dabo done good when he hired Allen.

Who cares? Did you see that defense of theirs last year? No amount of portal mercenaries are gonna fix that. We will score half a hundred on them and make them quit by the 3rd/4th quarter.

Simply not true. Some folks act like portal players are all these awesome 4 and 5 star superstars, and that’s incredibly far from the truth.
Basically creating teams with portal players has proven to be unsuccessful to date. Hasn’t pushed anyone to elite status.

I think Clemson's secondary will be a strength that Allen can exploit . I believe our corners are going to be very very good , if not lockdowns. LSU better hope the OL has at least a "decent" day because our DL is elite...and will make it a long day for Garrish Nutluster. That kid doesn't run the ball , because he can't. A pocket passer on opening day in Death Valley ? Dogmeat.

It wouldn’t end our season if we lost, but it reinforce the SEC dominance rhetoric which is bad too. Also they haven’t won a season opener since having Kelly as HC. Please don’t let us be the end of that trend for LSU. I expect a close back and forth game, but CU pulls off the win in the real Death Valley.

Promise that’s not the case. Just a cautious fan who’s not buying the hype. I’ll believe it when I see it, and hopefully they come out and dominate on both sides of the ball against LSU. But like I said LSU will have a lot of speed on offense and a much better run game than they had a year ago, two things our defense struggled with greatly.

But you are buying into the LSU hype? They were not a good team last year especially on defense. Even if they are able to throw on our secondary we can and should be able to win a shoot out at home.

After rewatching the Georgia, Louisville, Pitt, SC, SMU and Texas games, I think we need to play much better in 25 than we did in 24 in order to come come close to living up to this summer's preseason hype. I hope we do, but I also think we have not seen enough high quality players on the field for our Tigers to win it all in 25.
I think we are likely to be a very good team in the coming year. If we beat SC, make the playoff and win a play off game in 25, I think every Tiger fan should love the team, the season, the coaches and be thrilled with our Tigers. Go Tigers!!

Scheme is equally as important as personnel. I believe we have the personnel and I'm highly optimistic that Allen will put the players in the correct scheme much more often than his predecessor.
Attitude and belief in that scheme goes a long way with the players as well. It's been said by several players and evident by the coaching disagreements that there was little to no belief in the schemes Pork Chop was using. We'll see, but I expect a drastically improved defense this season.

Clemson should have the better OL and our receivers should be a little better, all I was saying is LSU went out and got some very fast guys at receiver and a lot of our secondary has shown they can get burnt by legit competition. I’m high on AV but my lord he played pretty bad the second half of the year against real competition. Did not realize it was a crime to be a critic of your favorite team and try and start a real conversation about the things that I could see going wrong without being called a gamecock.

Well if we're going to play the "look how long it took" game, then I'll throw the ND comparison out there. They had a ton of transfers last year that took awhile to get going and loss early to N Ill. Well LSU did the same, they got alot of talent through the portal, but they'll be playing an experienced and talented Clemson team for their 1st game with 2 new starters at both OT spots and pretty much an entirely new WR core, along with other on defense. They do return the QB, but he's not mobile at all. I have no doubt LSU will be really good this year, but catching them with the first game gives the more experience team the advantage.

Our issue last season was not the pass, it was tackling and discipline. I think Allen fixes that, everything I have read and seen so far indicates that was the offseason focus for the D.
This team is more experienced, no more deer in the headlights.
The game is on our turf, the real Death Valley, hopefully Dabo has them ready from the time they runn down the hill until they turn the lights out...
Certainly going to be fun!
PS. You don't think our backers see speed form our receivers?
