Losing my patience with G. Byrd

I get that LSU is a fantastic baseball program. And there was a lot to be excited about when he transferred here. But I really do think that he’s been riding Daddy’s coattails a little too long. I don’t give a chit of your dad was a major leaguer. MLB bloodlines won’t mean jackchit if you can’t hit at the college level. Because if you can’t hit consistently at this level there’s no way in h€ll that you can hit in the minors or the majors. Let’s face it: Byrd can’t hit the £ucking side of a barn right now. And the only reason he’s in the lineup is because he’s an outstanding defender. But when that starts going to (like it just did with an easy pop up that should’ve had us out of the d@mn inning) then the only things that’s left is to throw his @ss on the bench and put someone in there who can give you more the pitiful chit we keep seeing what Byrd every game. Get your chit, together Byrd. Or find a seat on the bench and don’t come off it.

Trust me, Inhoke I eat my words. I want it work out. It’s just taking way too long for him to settle in. And it seems like everyone is ha omg to pick up his slack. I hope he starts getting hot. Seriously, I will gladly eat my words. He just needs to prove he can be consistent. Otherwise, you can’t make an argument that other kids might deserve a chance because they’re working hard for a shot.

Not saying he isn’t good, but there are better options on Clemson’s bench.

Hitting .284 for a season is pretty consistent...he may be struggling early this year but he’s shown he can hit consistently.

3rd most strike outs a year ago. The 2 in front of him had 30+ more AB’s.

And where was he at average wise? Because again, he hit .284 over the season.
What’s so #### hard to understand about that?

I’m a college baseball player myself. If I were to hit .284, I would not have a chance to see the field. What’s so great about .284 BA?? When has that gotten anyone anywhere in this game?

Hahaha. What possible college baseball division would hitting .284 not be respectable?

Out of everyday players it was fifth.
You must be on a stacked team if players that hit .284 isn’t good. By the way, that means almost 3 times out of 10 at bats you get on base, what’s good about that is you have to get on base to score, and score to win.
Really not hard.

Yeah, he must be really bad to be the only player on our team to K this game.
Tell us again which Division 1 baseball conference has lineups with all players hitting .285+.

Not saying Byrd is not a good ball player, but he has hit .284. But look at the other stats. BA is not the only statistic to judge a baseball player off of. 3rd most in K’s a year ago. 2nd lowest with RBI’s.

I think you confused him with Cromwell and can't own it.

No way you play college baseball. I played a year, nothing wrong with 284 in college.

I’m on the bus with you. Never been impressed with Byrd. Guy does not help Tigers at all with the bat. Green is about in the same boat as Byrd. Justin Hawkins is the guy who needs to be in there. Best hitter available. Sam Hall could be the answer as well. Hall is one of most talanted freshman in the country

Frankly, I don't think anyone cares whether you lose patience or not. You have nothing to do with it.

Byrd Vs Greene
Byrd .284 in 2017 hit .158 in a league during his red-shirt season. hit .212 @ LSU in 2015
Byrd 2017 .284, 8 XBH, 20 RBI, 1HR .345 OBP 3 STL (1CS) in 57 games 46 K's 16 BB 13 multi hit games out of 57 games played... .945 Fielding % in 2017 (.929 in 2018)
Greene .263 in 2017 9 XBH 18 RBI, .332 OBP , 5 STL (2CS) in 51 starts 38K 21 BB 17 multi hit games hit .297 with 2 outs in 2017 .977 Fielding % in 2017 (1.000 in 2018) Had only 1 error in ACC play in 2017
IMO if .21 points is the difference in BA and .13 pts difference in OBP then let the better defender play and thats CLEARLY Greene. Idk why Greene is in the KJ Bryant dog house but he shouldn't. Yes Greene is hit-less in 5 AB this season but Byrd didn't get a hit til his 7th AB this season.

Greene is clearly the best fielder of the three mentioned. I wish Hawkins was the best choice because his power is great but he can't make enough contact. Greene should certainly start against lefthanders and the other three should rotate at third if Cromwell's hitting falls off. Right now Cromwell needs to play because he has been hitting and is a plus fielder. If Williams catches Cromwell should play first.

I hate to say it but I highly doubt Williams gets behind the plate anytime soon it’s just odd he isn’t back to 100% makes me think something is really wrong and requires more surgery.
