Based on that logic, Alabama and Ole Miss should have gotten in as well as they beat the SEC champion. I know they were clamoring to get both of them in as well.

They still should not have gotten in, they were 3 or 4th one out. Conference champions should get an auto bid and after that I don't think any conference should have an auto bids. Have 5 conference champions and the top 7 teams outside those champions IMHO.

the ONLY WAY they're likely to ever get into the CFP, barring expanding the field to 32 teams (and even then, that may be a stretch), is effectively for the committee to gift it to them.
