Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott was widely reported as the top candidate and likely next head coach of the Virginia Cavaliers on Wednesday, but there is at least one report saying that process is still in motion.
Sports Illustrated's Richard Johnson reported on Thursday afternoon that Virginia's negotiations with Elliott have "hit a snag."
Virginia outlets reported earlier this week that Penn State defensive coordinator and former UVa. standout Anthony Poindexter was expected to be the next Cavaliers coach and there was some kind of reported hitch in the interview process there as well.
Elliott was seen departing on a Virginia plane with his family for a first in-person interview with the school Wednesday afternoon.

Then maybe it is TE having second thoughts. He might think even his offenses can cover that type of defensive effort.
From everything I can gather off of this board about Elliot, anyway, he is way too nice a guy to coach at UVa. I doubt he knows what a Zima is or even likes brie'. And he certainly doesn't look to be the pergola type.

Had a jack russell I named Zima and she was an amazing little rascal. Died from anaphylactic reaction from catching a wasp and getting stung in throat. My ex-wife would put a Jolly Rancher in it for her flavoring but I liked to have one after mowing the yard on a hot day.

Saw an earlier report that their #1 target backed out when they insisted he keep several coaches and support staff on. If that's the case, they'll have trouble finding anyone to take the job - coaches that are gonna get screamed at for losing want full control of their staff.

This is the one that should have caused a lot of concern for wahoo fans. A native son, probably the best d-back and one of the top 5 players ever at UVa who stayed a year too long and suffered pretty much a career crushing injury one game into his senior year. Maybe the only wahoo I ever felt sorry for because he was a legit 1st round talent who came back and paid the price for it.
Not to mention seemingly if you read his bio, a really good coach, and he just flat turned them down. UVa fans (both of them) should have known something was rotten the moment that news broke.

I believe he is staying. Typically, once you go, especially with your family, you are gone. Either way, it's probably not a good look for TE. In other words, if he stays, is he really "ALL IN" if he continues to interview for other jobs? If he goes, then he probably is going to a place he isn't convinced is the right place for him, otherwise, he would have jumped at the opportunity.

And don't get me wrong, I would love for him to stay. Just tired of every year, he is interviewing and that brings a level of uncertainty.
