But Sayin hasn't proven himself at the bigtime level yet so not only is it questionable that he is even on that list but that he has the chops to get Smith the kind of touches he'd need to get to help him win the trophy. Then there's that whole "Two Heisman candidates on the same team drop each other's chances a lot" thing.

Very TRUE. Sayin is an unknown at this time. He has yet to throw a pass in a meaningful game. It is scary. However, Ohio States QBs have put up pretty good numbers the last 6-7 years. Not including the 2020 covid year, qbs have averaged about 3800 yards and about 38 tds a year. That spans Haskins, Fields, Stroud, McCord, and Howard. I highly doubt Sayin will win the Heisman. But he will most likely be up in the top 5-8.

There are a few exceptions. But, it you aren't an elite QB on a 10 win team you better be head and shoulders above everyone else.
Travis Hunter is the easy example.
I think the only non-QBs who could win the Heisman would be a receiver how catches 80+ passes or has 1200 yards and 20 TDs. (Smith, OSU or Williams, Bama come to mind as possibles) Or a RB who gains close to 2000 yards.
But, put your money on the best QB on the teams with 10+ wins.

That Louisville QB does not fall into that category. Just my opinion. He has done well in the pros though.

Somebody from Clemson will win it under Dabo. Not hard to see why he's high on the list .
Why not Cade Klubnik ? He's got a great returning O-Line , WR Corps and he showed last year that he can be really good if they give him time . He's also really good when they don't.
I like his chances -especially if he has a great game against LSU .

The media types love big schools in big cities with big money 💰 to be made from marketing the Heisman winner.
