Not much entertains me more than conference realignment during the off season. I know, I need a girl friend.

reasons; geography, existing members, and current play on the field is the Big 12.
Two years ago THAT league almost folded. Now, all of a sudden they are a destination???
I've said this over and over, the ACC has all the leverage. If everybody sticks together the ACC states have the largest population of any conference, over 100M. The SEC has 90M, including 25M in the state of Texas, which is loaded with Big 12 teams.
The reason the SEC and Big 12 folks keep pushing this crap is if the ACC stays intact, they are left with the S.Florida's, ECU's, Memphis, Temple's and UCONN's of the college football world for more teams, cause their montra is "the money is all about new TV sets, regardless of the brand of football".
Yeah right. Well, the 100M people in the ACC states say hello.

Georgia Tech's financial woes make the Big 10 very attractive. The problem for the ACC is that its TV revenue is not even in the same neighborhood as that of the Big 10. In this slow growth economy, to double your TV revenue by joining the Big 10 is appealing.

The TV contracts (long term) are not worth the paper they

are written on. They are so many clauses for adjustments that they change almost every two years.
IMO, the ACC network will be a big money maker, especially with Notre Dame as a member, full member or not. The language in the Orange Bowl contract was/is very telling, and seems to point to ND becoming a full member in the next few years. Even before the ACC network comes on board, the ACC can renegotiate with ESPN given the addition of ND, as there is the five game yearly committment to the ACC in football.

I guess we will know after the Maryland exit fee is settled.

Regarding the Orange Bowl, I think junk like the Orange paying out $55 million to the Sugar and Rose payout of $80 million, does not help in keeping the league intact. And if GT with their financial problems compares TV payouts between the BIG and the ACC, they may jump at an invite. There was talk about them going to the BIG, 2 years ago. I would not bet money on there not being an exit or 2 from the ACC. I really would not.

Yes, I've thought the same thing. If they go with UVA, as is being whispered, then it would not be as big a problem. And that's especially true if one of the North Carolina schools goes. Swofford better be working on something because if GT and UVA go, that would be a nuclear explosion.

Let's all hope. The best thing for Clemson is for the ACC to continue to grow and become stronger.
