Is the ACC really that bad in basketball this season?

When Duke absolutely goes up and beats Illinois by half a million. I know Duke is likely the top team outside of Clemson, but to do that to a mid Big 10 team says something.
I dont think the ACC is good. I think they are just average.
Something is going on here.
This quad level stuff for basketball is insane. Operating with this system Gonzaga would have never gotten in the tourney as much as they did or got national seeds.
I feel like we are over analyzing basketball.

Its like we got beat badly in the ACC/SEC challenge and never got the benefit of the doubt playing most elite version of SEC in its history.
Yea the ACC is not the SEC this year, but the ACC is also not the SoCon.

NET conference says the ACC is the 5th best conference. That’s bad for the conference that hung its hat on, and made multiple expansions around, being the best in basketball. We specifically sought to wreck the Big East who had surpassed us. Net result of those actions was that they’re now 4th ranked but still ahead of us. We killed two brands at once. But that gap between us and the southern conference is roughly twice the gap between us and the SEC.

The ACC is a shell of what it used to be.

Im usually the one everyone cant stand post.
I call it like i see it.
I dont see the ACC as being that bad. Its not good either.
But i would say the top 5-6 teams compete against the top 5-6 team in any other league outside of the SEC (historic season).
Thats all we are really talking about here.
And thats fine if you want to say the ACC in basketball is 5th this season. The NCAA projections are acting like the conference is 10th

No it's not as bad as it's portrayed. Imo, people confuse being good vs bad. I prefer saying the sec is deeper than the acc. Where sec and b1g may be deeper, the top 3 or 4 are probably equal. Just like the top 2 teams in the wcc.
But head to head, I'll take our 3 Duke Lou and us up against aubbie fla and Bama. Likewise the tops (whoever they are) in the b1g. Again, imo if we played each other, I like our chances. So, looking thru those lenses, Clemson and Louisville should be ranked higher. That, as others have said, will be proven in the tournament. Therein lies the flaw with the net ranking.

UNC alum here. In my opinion the ACC only has 3 good teams. Dook ( can I throw up now?) , Clemson and Louisville. There’s a few mediocre teams after that and the rest are just awful. That should not be a reflection on Clemson’s record because the Tigers are legit without question.

like any conference any year excellent teams are going to thrive regardless. The SEC has more upper programs this year than others but they've been exposed in the NCAAT often enough to where limited OOC opportunities early season carry unwarranted weight.
Regardless of how good a conference is from top to bottom, in any sport really, if you are taking care of business versus your schedule and you're at the top - it's impressive.
I've never been okay with teams with losing conference records being allowed into the NCAAT unless snagging an auto. It's a fairer way of erring on the right side of the apples to oranges debate when comparing overall records and SOS and such from different conference teams. It would be better for the tournament overall if they instituted that.
