Feb 3, 2020, 11:07 AM

make love instead, right?

Actually, I suggest that Spaceforce can be defunded by either party. Universal healthcare can't ever be defunded by either party. That's political suicide.

See, life is like this. It's not the mad money spending which hurts your budget because a reasonable man can control his mad spending. What he lacks control over are the monthly bills such as auto insurance, electric bill for heating and cooling, groceries and taxes.

Now less reflect on the national debt and the cost to government (regular working taxpayers) for global healthcare. I say global because every candidate believes that healthcare should cover anyone who crosses our border and ever one of them wants open borders.

So yeah, AOC is stupid if she thinks 180 million voters are going to vote to end their private healthcare in lieu of gov run replacement with ridiculous copays and taxes to ice that cake. She is a destructive force to our way of life. First though, she is a destructive force to the democrat party.

My best selling this to even the DNC much less the American voter.

Space Force will recieve a sliver of the DOD budget

Feb 3, 2020, 11:15 AM

Which is 600-something billion dollars. It won't be "new" money anyway as Air Force Space Command budgeting will just be switched over meaning Space Force's budget is already MOSTLY in place. The total Air Force budget is $156 billion. A fraction of that goes to Space Command.

Healthcare for all costs roughly $30 TRILLION dollars over a decade. A cool 3 trillion a year. We have a $23 trillion debt and a $1 trillion deficit.

She's an idiot.

She doesn't care about the cost.

Feb 3, 2020, 11:25 AM

Her intent is to redistribute wealth. She might be stupid to think that the people she most wants to take from are subject to having their wealth taken but as far as the amount taken or future budget concerns, in her opinion, the more taken and the further in debt the quicker gov can take over all private business and turn America into the USSR or Venezuela.

She isn't stupid to believe that she can peel off the left wing of the democrat party and exercise control over it. She's well on her way to doing that. That's one heartbeat (Bernie's) away.

She is stupid to think it's time for America to try socialism.

it's all platitudes and examples that are not grounded in anything factual.

Ridiculous co-pays? Under MC4A there would be NO COPAYS. NO DEDUCTIBLES, NO PREMIUMS, NO BILLS IN THE MAIL LATER.

Oh but it's going to cost 50 something trillion dollars:
Our medical system as it is now will cost that much while not covering everybody. MC4A will be cheaper in the long run than what we have now while covering everybody mainly because, like all insurance, spreading liability across a larger segment of the population will reduce costs. Not to mention the 50 tril is already going to be spent. What many advocates are pushing for isn't additional spending. It's taking those tens of trillions of dollars fighting brown people for oil and turning it into something useful for the tax payers.

Doctor's are going to leave the country, innovation will plummet.
-And go where? EVERY OTHER DEVELOPED COUNTRY ON EARTH HAS MC4A with the exception of us. Did they take off in the Nordic countries, or Canada?

You'll have to wait exorbitant wait times and DIE!
- Hell I wait forever now WITH insurance. Emergencies get seen first just like now. Go into the ER with a toothache? Wait 6 hours. That's happening now. Go into the ER with chest pain, right back there now.

It will kill small businesses.
-Will it? These small business no longer have to pay for employer provided HC. That frees up more money, plus they have a healthier workforce.

My taxes will go through the roof.
-Your taxes will go up. But the cost benefit is still in your favor. I pay easily 500 a month in HC for my family. Then I go to the doctor and pay 70 dollar copay until I hit my deductible. Then a few weeks later I get a bill that can range for $30 to 3000 dollars depending on what was done. If my taxes went up $500 PER MONTH I would still come out in the positive.

The misinformation and scare campaign is absolutely ridiculous.

Of course I'm sure you'll retort with "you don't know economics."

This did not happen with ACA. The population that was added was in worse shape and required more medical attention, raising costs.

Doctor's are going to leave the country, innovation will plummet.
-And go where? EVERY OTHER DEVELOPED COUNTRY ON EARTH HAS MC4A with the exception of us. Did they take off in the Nordic countries, or Canada?

Where does medical innovation come from? The US. Given our education system structure, do you think people will take on that medical school debt to work cheaply? Go to the VA and check out their facilities and doctors. They are garbage.

You'll have to wait exorbitant wait times and DIE!
- #### I wait forever now WITH insurance. Emergencies get seen first just like now. Go into the ER with a toothache? Wait 6 hours. That's happening now. Go into the ER with chest pain, right back there now.

Check out the private imaging business in Canada. BOOMING. MRIs, CTs, Xray, all places they pay out of pocket because it's 6-8 weeks for a simple image. Non critical scan? They strive for 28 days in Toronto, but they average wait time is 37 days. Spend some time up there. It's truly fascinating. Also, healthcare staff aren't allowed to speak poorly about the system.

It will kill small businesses.
-Will it? These small business no longer have to pay for employer provided HC. That frees up more money, plus they have a healthier workforce.

Will it free up more money? I doubt it. Someone has to pay for all this 'free' healthcare.

For my company, the total premium cost for a family of 4 is $21,000/year. The employee currently pays $7,000 of that with a $2k/$4k deductible. And those costs are on the lower end for coverage averages in our region. So you pay $6,000/yr more in taxes, but where does the other $15k come from?

The misinformation and scare campaign is absolutely ridiculous.

Agreed.

Name me one market or business that the government took over and made it cheaper and more efficient? I'll wait.

You can not compare MC4A with ACA

Feb 3, 2020, 11:49 AM

especially after the coverage requirement was dropped.

Crazy how Republicans gutted the bill of the very core elements that would keep it affordable, then turn around and talk about how expensive it is.

Nordic countries got around the "doctors are so far in debt they won't work for pennies" by increasing the rigor of post grad while making undergrad free. Something Warren (and I believe Sanders, but not sure on that) have also championed.

Feb 3, 2020, 11:44 AM [ in reply to Good lord you haven't done any actual reasearch ]

"No part of Medicare pays for all of a beneficiary's covered medical costs and many costs and services are not covered at all. The program contains premiums, deductibles and coinsurance, which the covered individual must pay out-of-pocket. A study published by the Kaiser Family Foundation in 2008 found the Fee-for-Service Medicare benefit package was less generous than either the typical large employer preferred provider organization plan or the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program Standard Option.[48] Some people may qualify to have other governmental programs (such as Medicaid) pay premiums and some or all of the costs associated with Medicare."

Feb 3, 2020, 11:48 AM

copied is about the current Medicaid/Medicare system. MC4A (or single payer HC) would replace these systems. Under the Sander's plan and the Warren plan, there would be no payment of anything except an increase in taxes.

Then stop calling it Medicare for all

Feb 3, 2020, 11:56 AM

it's not, it would be a government-run health care system, that would have to be funded via Social Security to make it equitable. And, as the government has shown, through the VA, it can't mess up timely access to health care.

I admit to being a bit salty because the VA put off my grandfather's treatment for over a year to obtain approval and he passed away before it was approved.

China is getting too big for its breeches.

Feb 3, 2020, 6:58 PM

Part of Space Force is to defend against China's aspirations to control communication devices in orbit. I think Space Force is going to be much needed someday and I honestly believe that it's better to be early than late. I have no fear that China will declare a hot war on the US. Considering exploration into deep space is a dream, imo. However, you gotta start somewhere.

Star Wars is part of what bankrupt the USSR. Afghanistan was the other major factor along with massive spending toward managing and controlling people who refuse to be servants of communism.

Existing health care is expensive and has coverage gaps.

Feb 3, 2020, 1:15 PM

The US when compared to other developed countries has worse overarching metrics like health cost / person, prescription drug costs, life expectancy, infant mortality and mental health metrics like suicides, drug overdoses and murder rates.

It seems undeniable that there’s a problem. I don’t know the details to formulate a solution. Historically the US has successfully addressed difficult issues by formulating policy and regulation that engage and encourage market based solutions. Market based solutions align with our capitalistic economy. Government programs have provided some guaranteed health care for children, the aged, disabled and other disadvantaged.

It seems working constructively in the existing framework including the ACA and employer funded insurance will provide a better solution than a significant departure towards 100% government funded health care.

She's not stupid at all. We've got crumbling bridges, run down airports and horrible roads but somehow are able to spend Trillions on worthless wars. And now a Space Force. What do we need with a space force? 'Force' implies some sort of offensive or defensive action. In space?

Our priorities are screwed. How'd you like for your son or daughter to lose both legs fighting to establish a democratic Iraq? Or, to make sure there are more jobs in this country at Boeing.

In this country, war seems to have more to do with paying lots of money to Haliburton, Boeing, and dozens of other defense contracts. Halliburton paid zero federal taxes last year.

Some don't seem bothered by that. Most are piszed. Many Americans have small business that pay taxes quarterly. Haliburton made $24 Billion last year.

I agree with you on tax dollars going to defense contractors. We are closer to withdrawing from useless and never ending wars than we have been in half a century. If we could drain the bureaus and military of swamp rats we could cut much of our wasted spending.

I am not willing to cut spending toward a strong defense but the fact is that the one nation which could challenge us on the battlefield is dependent upon us as a customer for the cheap disposable junk it sells to keep itself alive.

Our military is as good as it needs to be but we need to keep the edge sharp through R&D.
