let that sink in before you say we're "on the verge" of being ELITE. Not to mention the "close calls" vs other mediocre teams that close the gap from year to year w/ their portal use.
There are deeper problems than just "getting a punter", or getting a new DC, a complete philosophical change by Dabo is needed to rehab us back to ELITE in this ERA of CFB.................the 2 portal gets are a start, but it can't end there.............roster TALENT depletion has been real over the last 4 seasons.
2021: 1-3
2022: 5-3
2023: 2-3
2024: 1-4

we are not there anymore and it's not close. it takes a lot of effort in the portal and being real with ourselves to resolve

The portal isn't the answer. Teams don't become elite due to the portal. If you're 6-6, the portal may get you to 9-3 or 10-2. It will take more than the portal to be elite.

Get a grip TDq. No one including pheebo said that portal transfers alone is the answer. We have to evolve and adapt in several areas to compete at the highest level. I am hopeful our decision makers can get there, but gotta see it to believe it. Those numbers clearly show what we all know over the past 4 years - we have dropped off precipitously in beating teams that have a pulse.

You need to get a grip. If yiu are having a hart tune getting elite players in recruiting, you will also struggle to get elite players in the portal.

I didn't think you'd want the win/loss record against the "other mediocre teams"........ie 7 or less wins...............much less concerned about "almost beating those 7 or less win teams".
since you asked......we almost lost to cuse, GT & BC in 2021 (7 or less wins)
in 2022 we almost lost to syracuse who won 7 or less
in 2023 we almost lost to a 4 win Wake team....and almost lost to a 7 win kentucky team
in 2024 we almost lost to a 7 win Pitt team
to our credit we didn't lose to any 7 or less win team over that time...............guess that would be the next step if we continue down the path we're going.
here's to hoping Dabo's on the way to rehabbing this program back to ELITE level of 2015-2019

That's the issue. 2015-2020 is going yo be the exception, not the norm, to be honest with you.

We have definitely been going downhill. Let's hope that the bottom is over and we are starting to head back up now. I think next year will be a nice upgrade on O. D I have no idea.

Require money that we don’t have access to. Not relevant for one or two ‘one off’ major expenditures, but highly relevant for dozens of major expenditures.
After all, it is not the absolute level of expenditure to ‘upgrade’ our program that matters. Rather, it our ability to bear expenses equal to what wealthier programs are will8ng to spend.
Clemson increases expenditures by 25% to remain competitive with the big guys? Then the big programs up the ante by outspending us by another 25% to attract the top end assistant coaches + incoming new players + existing players on the roster.
This shouldn’t a difficult concept for the Clemson fans who incessantly yammer that ‘Dabo won’t use the portal enough’ and ‘Dabo chooses to hire developmental assistant coaches instead of proven commodities.’ ‘Dabo has outlived his days as a great coach because he won’t change with the times.’
Wake up, already.
