I'm stunned that J. Lukas didn't transfer out

He likely gets beat out this Spring by A. Hampton and the coaches say C. Gipson is starting to progress nicely now that he's a year removed from his ACL injury. I assumed we'd lose either him, S. Lewis, or Strozier but shockingly all of them stayed.

They have time to see what happens in the spring and what the New DC has planned for them.

There will be lots of spring battles and if those wanting to be named starter are not they will likely hit the road.

Maybe not, but he's far from the disaster many make him out to be.

The level hate and criticism is rediculous, in my opinion.

Lukas was probably our top corner this year.

QBs rarely threw it to his side of the field.
Terrell, on the other hand, was downright abused as the season progressed.
Based on consistency and performance it appears Terrell should be much more concerned with splitting snaps than Lukas.

Hampton most talented. Terrell has a much higher ceiling than Lukas, but

The film doesn't lie.
Lukas overperformed and Terrell SEVERELY underperformed this season.
It's a game of performance, not potential.

Terrell was so much better than Lukus. He can’t tackle at all, gets juked out his shoes and loses outside leverage. Terrell did commit ALOT of PI’s but it’s because he was on the field way more….Lukus can’t commit PI if he’s not in the game or (when he is in the game) he’s not close enough to his WR to even grab him…. He got beat out by Hampton for a reason

There's a reason he committed a lot of PIs

Offensive coordinators saw a ton of deficiencies in his size and technique and repeatedly attacked his side of the field. With great success.
Obviously Lukas is the least talented of the three but is a matchup nightmare with his size and was much more consistent and fundamentally sound.
I'll take that every day of the week over somebody who makes three unbelievable plays and then three costly mistakes.

Fair. The 15 yard penalties are killer. Lukus just needs to improve his technique badly. If Reed stays I’m sure that will happen as it does with all our db’s

Ashton Hampton is taking either Terrell's or Lukas' spot. Right now I would lean Terrell if he can't stop with PI and the fact that he is afraid to tackle. I've never seen a guy try to not tackle someone quite like Terrell did in the coot game.

Exactly. Terrell needs to add a little bit of size and put together a great camp

Personally I like Lukas, maybe not as good in coverage but he's been good coming up to stop ball carrier whenever I've watched.
Given his size (6'2", 200 lb), wonder if they kick around idea of trying him out at safety/nickel. Really hoping he'll have a breakout year if he truly does stick around for his final year.

From what i saw he was much more physical than Terrell and didn't get flagged nearly as much. We need 4 solid corners going into next season. I hope he stays.

Teams basically need three starting CBs these days anyway so not a biggie whose technically listed a starter. Those 3 and 4 guys are gonna be on the field a lot regardless.

You guys must not have seen the same Lukas I did last year. He wasn't good @ all

Lukas was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse than Terrell. Terrell was really good the first 5 or 6 games of the year and was good at forcing turnovers all year, but regressed badly with all the PI's later in the year. Lukas maybe had one or two good games all year. He couldn't stay on the field because he kept making too many costly mistakes:
- missed assignments - poor tackling - not leveraging the ball in run support - taking poor angles
Dabo was incredibly frustrated with him all year based on how many times the TV cameras showed him getting on Lukas' case on the sidelines after costly mistakes. Clearly the coaches saw it how I'm seeing it because they kept yanking him every game.
