4 straight NCAA appearances, then it should be a no-brained for Clemson to let go of Brownell at this point.

Seriously, Gottfried was a much more prestigious coach than BB. Article pretty much summarizes what Gottfried did while at NCSU....

If Brownell gets us to The Dance, he earns another year. If not, he's got to go, regardless of what Gottfried accomplished at NCST or how they handled it (even though I understand and agree with your point). No serious basketball program with one ounce of pride or integrity would keep Brownell after 1 good year followed by a downturn and 6 straight years of zero measureable improvement.
