If exceeding expectations is defined as having a final team ranking

that is higher than that team’s head coach salary ranking, wouldn’t it make sense to have the lowest paid coach in a sport to maximize the potential for exceeding expectations?
Everyone wins.

He's disputing Mountaineers' ridiculous notion that our basketball team is currently exceeding expectations.

Worst of all there are numerous coaches making less and maybe even a lot

less, but with far more accomplishments.
Brad has done okay, however he is not “great” and that can be substantiated by a lack of accomplishments.
I like Brad. He needs to do better with that salary. If not this upcoming season..

FYI, You could say that he was given the new contract for what is expected in the future more than what he has done to date.
He has everything now to win. All the facilities including the new building being built, good NIL offering, and Coaching and other staff.
wait and see is best advice...

You keep pushing this but it doesn’t make sense. At its core, the new contract hands Brad a guaranteed EXTRA $7.5 million (minimum) whatever he does. They didn’t redirect to higher level incentives. They kept in place the pitiful NIT bonus. None of that says higher expectations now.

As long as that coach isn't ticklish I think that theory would work.
