I saw a lot of games & dont remember a call like the Shuey

sack being called for unnecessary roughness. The official tv used to explain made it sound like some point of emphasis. If so why didnt it occur in other games?
Did any of the rest of you see anything like that? I just would think I'd have seen it in another game if so. Sounded like the NFL protect the qb approach only in college football

It was called for roughing the passer

But a gray line nevertheless and thus should've been a no call.

What bothers me about it is if he had been tackled like that it would've been ok. The hit was NOT late, he was already lunging toward Miller when Miller threw the ball. The ref authority said it was because he landed on top of him rather than roll to the side. I call BS. Probably should've been a no call. Don't really care any more. Tigers win.

It is a BS rule...
I am a USC fan, so you need to know that...I am not biased...
I quote a text I sent to my Uncle (who is a Clemson Alum)...
"That QB is defenseless" (referencing the AAC head ref calling Miller that)
I then pointed out that the "Defenseless" QB had a 29 yard TD run earlier in the game.
I like Matt Millen (an announcer) offering that head of AAC refs his glasses on Tajh Boyd's "short TD" on 2nd and Goal from the 2 inch line.
Clemson should have won by 2-3 TDs IMHO.
Don't forget, on 3rd and 8 of the first drive of the game...Vic Beastly sacked Braxton Miller for a 17 YARD LOSS to bring up 4th and 25 and they called a BS celebration penalty when he did the Cam Newton "Superman shirt" thing.
Refs artificially extended an OSU drive there.

He made a clean hit and they flag him for the way he fell on the guy? Good grief.

As bad as those on the field. Not sure what Shuey was supposed to do on that play; he released the quarterback...was he supposed to defy gravity and not land on him. Then they don't call the late hit on Rod. They call Vic for the Superman.. but let Miller show boat after his touchdown a couple of plays later. What was the call on our bench? A bogus call that gave them a first down.

that Tajh had gotten the ball over the line. I think the guy in the booth said that it really had to "pop out at them" to overturn the call. ###?

The ball was over the line, clear as could be. What exactly did they want to pop out at them?

you're right but once he hits him and they go airborn how he lands isnt exactly something he can do much about.
I think that is one thing that annoys me about targeting the perception the D guy can just hit exactly where and how hw wants. O guys fak and fall, and have blockers that impact this.
