I dont like the ACC Tournament

I have enough sense to realize that having 2 grueling and extremely physical games against SMU and Louisville before the NCAAT does NOT help anything.
Louisville looked the same exact way and we know what they had to go through
In fact, it’s obvious that it works just as well to lose the first game we play. Like last year against BC.
There are only 2 reasons I care about what happens in that tournament.
1) ACC Championships are important. And Clemson still has zero.
2) It allows a chance for bottom ACC teams to make miraculous runs and make the tournament. Extra win opportunities.
But if you’re a team like Clemson, a lock in the NCAAT, having those games don’t help. Especially if you just end up losing anyways.
Those 2 games literally meant jack sh**.
And both teams literally played football against us. We all remember.
Our seed in the tournament didn’t get changed from what we were projected before the ACC Tournament anyways.
What did that SMU win do?
I think NCAAT “locks” should be able to opt out if they for whatever reason want to.
I feel like I’ll catch heat, but I think the NCAAT is where everything lies. It’s obvious and it’s non debatable.

Since 1993 no NCAA champion has failed to at least make their conference semifinal. So, purely from a NCAA tourney success standpoint, your argument doesn’t hold up.

You’re talking about something that doesn’t apply to us
That’s only a stat, showing history
Nothing about Clemson this year, or Louisville, or Duke

Okay but you’re actually discussing multiple seasons and what you perceive as negative effect and simply state you don’t like the tournament. I understand your logic. But reality says that teams that will go on to success in the NCAA tournament are not disadvantaged by playing in their conference tournament.

Seriously, iq test. You wouldn’t embarrass yourself like this. My post is 100% pertinent to what he’s saying. You don’t have the capability you think you have.

“I feel like I’ll catch heat”
That’s because you post ridiculous nonsense daily. Opting out is stupid.

I don’t think it was because of the ACCT though. It was because we haven’t developed our depth well and we had:
-1 starter out (D. Hunter) -1 starter playing with chronic injury (Schieffelin) -1 starter with questionable stamina (Lakhin)
Our only depth was Wiggins, who was starting for Dillon Hunter; Jones, a freshman who has promise but isn’t reliable yet; Heidbreder, who can shoot but is streaky and turnover prone; and Reeves, who is still vey raw.
We did not get much from anyone else on the bench, as they were either ineffective, a redshirt, or a walk-on.
For a team that was supposed to have a lot of depth, we really didn’t have much. Failing to develop quality depth really did us in. We shouldn’t struggle so much without a starter, or when a key player or two has foul trouble.
I also felt that our leadership was poor. Chase and Ian allowed us to get rattled and did nothing to get us out of that funk. If not for Zackery having a career game, we would have lost by a lot more.

Injuries happen to every team.
Most guys you mentioned in that list, they all had outstanding tournaments going to the Elite 8.
Perfectly capable of repeating. Because we were better than last year. I know it. It’s a fortunate thing to be shooting well in March.
You should take the perspective of gratitude for all of our main players actually playing, basically all year.
Because there’s some teams who lose their best players. And don’t have them by tournament time.
And even if what you were saying was 100% true… Then that further backs my argument that the ACC tournament is superfluous and only further worsened the conditions of our players like Ian.
Now, if you erase those few extra days of the ACC Tournament, you get rest.

Mcneese State played 2 conference tournament games just like we did so no excuses of being too tired works here. I think losing Dillon certainly upset some of our chemistry and that may have been the biggest factor. For whatever reason, we didn't come out ready to play and it cost us. Wade showed us a D we weren't ready for and it took an entire half for us to adjust.
Great regular season but I am not into moral victories. Post season is the time to shine and this was our best chance to go deep and we squandered it away. I feel bad for the players because they deserved better but you have to perform when the lights are the brightest and that just didn't happen the last couple of games.
