I got lucky and started mine extra early in pots this year and I have mater trees! The rain this weekend made them have to be restaked on 6’ stakes! My cherry tomatoes had to be topped. They just wanted to grow straight up and I am stil pinching buds to bring more foliage. My heirloom maters look like trees! Should be a banner year. Gonna hit with neem oil as soon as the rain stops and sevin again after the neem dries.

So what is the best way to keep squirrels from eating your tomatoes? Short of shooting them I mean.

Pretty ignorant comment but ok. Squirrels although are a nuisance to us humans serve a role like every other animal. They aide in seed dispersal and are food source for several other animals. Let’s just kill everything that we don’t like in our yard.

Grow enough for everyone. The way I look at it, the squirrels and birds can't run to the grocery store and get what they want. We should feel blessed that we can (sorry if that sounds all tree huggy). My garden is for my enjoyment. If I had to turn a profit on it, I would feel differently, I am sure.

I have to use the same netting on my strawberries too. Or else all my fruits would have a single hole from those birds. Which I feed well. Meal worms suet and great seed mixtures. I even throw peanuts out for the squirrels
