Golf Gear Question

Getting ready to go on a golf trip and thinking about taking the 4, 5, and 6 irons out of my bag. I have relatively new PXG irons and woods, and I think my PGX 21 degree hybrid is good to replace my 4 iron, so I really only need hybrids to replace my 5 and 6 iron. Has anyone done this and can recommend another brand of hybrid (don't want to travel to Charlotte or Atlanta to try out PXGs). I am a senior and will use regular or senior shaft. TIA

It sounds like a move most Seniors like you and me need to make. I’ve heard many of the Senior pros such as Fred Couples aren’t carrying below a 7 iron. 5-W and 7-W are the rage. I still carry TaylorMade M2 3 Hybrid and 4 Hybrid which seem to be satisfactory.

I have done just that and have Taylormade SIM2s (4,5,6and 7) my first iron is a 8. I hit the hybrids about 5 yds further and more consistent than the corresponding irons

That is what I read ……. for example a 5 hybrid with the same loft as a 5 iron will hit it a little further and higher ball flight.

I was never a big hybrid guy but give me a 5 and 7 wood and I'm happy. I do have a special place for a 6 iron, so I'll always keep one in the bag. Even though I would rarely use it now, it was the club my Dad and I got our only hole in ones. I got mine 20 years after he passed away.

2 hybrids replaced those irons for me: 24 degree(175 yds) and 18 degree(200 yds).
