Is giving up nearly 130 rush yards on average per game and his rush defense is currently ranked #32 in the nation
Clemson is only giving up 20 more yard per game on average sitting at 150
If we are worried about rush defense we can do better than Golden
Plus, we beat his defenses like a drum while he was at Miami

Fun fact... Al Groh was once the OFFENSIVE Coordinator for USCjr and their offensive ranking fell 50 spots that year compared to the year prior.

The biggest stat I'm interested in is the big play stat. If you nickel and dime yards is one thing but to constantly give up runs of 15, 20, and 25 plus you're not controlling the game.

ND's defense is top 5 in advanced metrics and #1 in defensive efficiency.
They played two service academies which immediately skews their total rushing numbers (also skews their passing defense numbers in the opposite direction). This is accounted for in advanced stats, but not old ones like total defense.
I'm not saying we should hire Al Golden, but it would be about as silly to eliminate him from consideration due this is it would be to eliminate Banks when his defense had one bad game at Ohio State (who also scored 34 points in the 1st half against Oregon).
