So I am guessing the players have already banked their money for the season? Maybe FSU will have to start paying by the game?

They’re lucky I’m not running the world. I’d put it up on the JumboTron, “#54 is making $8500 for this play”.

Our Players Will Be Coached Up. Don't worry.

Not so sure it's RAT poison. I think it's a reflection of the state of FSU football. Would players not participating in a foot race have our players let their guard down. No.
This me 1st culture is just manifesting itself there. We aren't winning; So I'm going to go in a corner and "do me"!
Whether this article was created or not; that mentality is still happening! No article is going to stop that.
FSU has good players; they could pull together and give Clemson a run. But, "only if Clemson allows it"! Yes, I think Clemson would have to play down to their level for this to be a game.
I just don't see that happening being that there are questions about:
1. Can Cade do it on the road. 2. This is the 1st conference road game. 3. The defense gave up some easy looking rushing yards last game; will that be fixed.
Too many questions that have to be answered for the players or coaches to show up "not wanting to put some of those to bed"!

This is exactly what Dabo is protecting against. He seems to be the only one in college football that gets it.

Yep! And, what gets me is, you have people who "DO NOT IDENTIFY AS CLEMSON FANS" yelling Dabo needs to use the portal or get left behind. Strange, really. Shouldn't they want Dabo to not use the portal? Shouldn't they want him to struggle?
The issue is always the same: "the good players who could make a difference on your roster already have a team"! The rest of the portal players are just typically players who couldn't break the starting lineup where they were. Why would you want them?
Bringing in a great WR if you know you are lacking or QB or CB, etc. Is one thing; but wholesale change that never really buys into the school/culture is destined to fail.

You guys nailed it. I work in the engineering consulting business. We have MANY long-tenured employees (including me) that have contributed to the strong culture we enjoy. We bring in "transfers" all the time, sometimes for specific projects, clients, or opportunities we encounter. Sometimes they stay and get ingrained into our culture; sometimes they leave when that project or opportunity dries up.
The backbone of our company, our special sauce, is the culture carried on by employees who "grew up" here. We acquired another firm that offered different services 10 years ago, with many heavy hitters. They never embraced our culture. Today, they're all gone, and we're a lot stronger.
Players who develop and blossom in their 3rd, 4th, 5th years (Powell, Skalski, Orhorhoro, to name a few) do so because of that development and culture.
It's okay to bring in a few transfers, as long as they don't poison the pot.

I want to win more national championships. So I don’t think this method is working if “Best is the standard.”

Dabo i.m.o 100% has a point. The best players enter the portal with a destination already. Everybody else is typically, "not that good"! Since Dabo is not one to tamper with other people's players, "portal picking" isn't likely. But, the man has tried several times and offered kids a few times, "but they went to other schools"!
