Does adversity cause you to quit making stupid play calls?

Like THROWING THE BALL while deep in the red zone when you could keep it on the ground and ensure a FG for a two score lead with less than 5 min left?
Does adversity do that? Or does adversity just give you a nice rhetorical throw-away line to salve your wounds after a loss?

We've thrown plenty in the red zone, and scored...

Nothing wrong with the play call. Watson didn't wait for Jordan to clear to the back of the endzone.
There were plenty of other mistakes made, and the Defense didn't make enough adjustments. Pitt avg over 6 yards a play. Our D is one of the best in the country and Pitt scored 3 points more than their season average.
That said, you can't blame just one play.

After reading mrmatts long post concerning stragetic thinking and stragetic play calling, can't agree with that. Mrmatt was right, regardless of how bad the run game stunk it up tonight, the stragetic calls with 5 minutes left and a 8 point lead was to run it all 3 downs. Even if the don't gain a yard, it either eats all of Pitts timeouts or takes half the game off the clock. FG makes a two score game with around 2.5 left - with the Pitt timeouts or a 2 score game with around 4.30 left and no Pitt timeouts left. Heck even a fumble at that point leaves them with the whole field to drive not a 70 yard int return where they start on the Tiger 30.

Bad play calling can tear character down also, especially with the help of the zebras!!! IMPO, by having all the elite talent that we have, it has bailed out the play calling all this season....

Hopefully adversity teaches us how to go for the jugular on offense when we get an 8-point lead and have momentum. and to focus on attacking tjhe weakness of a D constantly and without fail until we have a comfortable lead that takes away possibilities of late game heroics.

Yep, game time is a bad time to practice trying different things against your opponents.
