Careful about posting address on here. Least worry would be the porch pirates.

We got a bunch of squirrels Saturday. I would have given them to you if I knew you were doing this. You ever skinned a squirrel?

I remember my Dad saying pull the skin over the front legs like you are pulling its arms out of a sweatshirt. Before Saturday it had been probably 50 years since the last time I cleaned and ate a squirrel.

Par boiled and fried with some Franks red hot is how I like em. Lived in Awendaw many years ago for awhile and they were a big part of my diet back then...

I grew up on Johns Island and they were a staple in our diet when I was a kid. Mom would fry them and make milk gravy or she would make squirrel and dumplings just like she did with chicken.

Our church men’s group has a monthly meeting with a meal called supper (as in Last Supper) . Back in the Summer the cook slipped turtle stew by us and told us what it was afterwards. In the Fall I was warned that he was going to sneak squirrel stew by us/ I conveniently forgot to attend that night.

I don’t believe in trying to slip something like that past someone. My wife is a city gal and she doesn’t eat any wild game and I won’t cook anything with it and not tell her. I will try any food once and then decide if I want more or not. I lived in a lot of different places and worked with people from different cultures from all over the world. That that gave me the opportunity to try lots of different foods.

We lived on Lake Hartwell one year and my roommate would shoot squirrel off our back deck. And yes we made squirrel lasagna.
Didn't tell the other roommate. 🤪
